Patent number: 9211739Abstract: The present invention provides a medium-holding device capable of setting a suction pressure for each of various areas within a suction-holding surface, a medium-conveying device, and an inkjet recording device. In an embodiment of the invention, a cover is attached to a main body formed into a drum shape such that a surface of the cover functions as the suction-holding surface for a paper sheet. The cover has a plurality of suction apertures formed thereon from which suction apertures the paper sheet on the suction-holding surface is sucked. The suction apertures are arranged at a certain pitch. A specific suction aperture of them has a narrowing member attached thereto. The suction aperture having the narrowing member attached thereto has the suction pressure lowered. Therefore, by adjusting an arrangement of the specific suction aperture having the narrowing member attached thereto, the suction pressure can be partially controlled within the suction-holding surface.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2015Date of Patent: December 15, 2015Assignee: FUJIFILM CorporationInventor: Takao Ozaki

Image forming apparatus, image forming method, and recording medium storing an image forming program
Patent number: 9211742Abstract: An image forming apparatus can detect a foreign object promptly during homing operation. After starting the homing operation, the image forming apparatus determines whether or not a carriage stops moving by detecting motion or stop of the carriage until timing to change detecting when either the carriage reaches predetermined position or velocity of the carriage reaches predetermined value. If the image forming apparatus determines that the carriage stops moving, the image forming apparatus controls a main scanning motor to stop driving. After the timing to change detecting, the image forming apparatus detects load variation of the main scanning motor. If the load variation is detected, the image forming apparatus controls the main scanning motor to stop driving.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2013Date of Patent: December 15, 2015Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventor: Suguru Yokozawa -

Patent number: 9199454Abstract: A method of operating a printer includes operating an actuator with a controller to move a printhead array during a print job. The controller operates a first subset of inkjets in the printhead array to print to a first print medium during the job and moves a first inkjet in the printhead array over a second print medium while removing a second inkjet that was over the first print medium from being over the second print medium. The controller uses the inkjets that are over the second print medium, including the first inkjet but not the second inkjet, to form a printed image on the second print medium.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2014Date of Patent: December 1, 2015Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Michael J. Patent number: 9193142Abstract: The disclosed systems and methods provide an ink-based digital printing system for printing high quality images on a wide latitude of image receiving media. The disclosed systems and methods employ a UV curable base (transfix) layer deposited on an intermediate image transfer member that is then at least partially cured prior to an aqueous ink being deposited on the base layer to form a digital image thereon. Once the images are formed on the base layer, a drying device is optionally used to reduce a water content of the aqueous ink images on the base layer prior to transfer of the images to an image receiving media substrate. At transfer, the images and at least a portion of the base layer are transferred to the image receiving media substrate, the images being sandwiched between the portion of the base layer and the image receiving media substrate.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2014Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Carolyn Moorlag, Gabriel Iftime, C. Patent number: 9193164Abstract: Inkjet head cleaning and storage includes cleaning an orifice plate by inserting a tip of a shaped wiper into a slit of a printing mask, such that one or more shoulders of a handling end of the shaped wiper are in contact with respectively one or more edges of the slit. The shoulders of the shape wiper facilitate the tip applying a predetermined pressure to an orifice surface during wiping. Preventing sediment buildup during extended periods of non-printing includes placing at least the orifice plate of the printing head in a protecting liquid that avoids evaporation of the volatile liquid from the nozzles. An innovative “night plate” can be used to seal the slit of a printing mask and ink purged from the printing head used to fill a gap between the printing head and the mask, thereby covering at least the orifice plate with the purged ink.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2011Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: XJET LTD.Inventors: Eli Kritchman, Hanan Gothait, Timofey Shmal, Sharon Fima
