    Abstract: A biometric user authentication method and computer program product includes receiving asserted user credentials from a user into a biometric authentication system, and obtaining a digitally-stored image key and ocular biometric data both associated with the asserted user credentials from memory within the biometric authentication system. The biometric authentication system is verified by simultaneously displaying the image key and at least one image other than the image key to the user and detecting that the user has selected the image key. The user is authenticated by scanning an eye of the user to obtain ocular biometric data and matching the scanned ocular biometric data to the digitally stored ocular biometric data. If the biometric system is verified and the user is authenticated, then the user is provided access to a protected area.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method, device and computer-program product for detection of undesired temporal variations (flicker) in a sequence of video frames. In one embodiment, frame-wise luminance means are compared with a reference level and the crossing frequency is compared with expected variation frequencies, such as frequencies associated with an illumination frequency through aliasing. The crossings count can be refined by introducing a latency zone around the reference level. In case of a positive detection of an undesired temporal variation, there is further provided a correction method, device and computer-program product using cumulated distribution functions. The visual detriment of flicker-induced saturation of pixels is alleviated either by brightening non-saturated pixels or by replacing the saturated pixels by randomly sampled values in accordance with a reference cumulated distribution function. The invention provides embodiments suitable for real-time processing of streamed video sequences.

If the pixel is determined to be an edge, the pixel-adaptive interpolation algorithm may use the directional interpolator to process the pixel; otherwise, the pixel is processed using a scaler algorithm.
