Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a thermal spray method of forming a protective and porous coating over desired surfaces. Further, embodiments provide a thermal arc spray method, such as twin wire arc spray, to coat the surfaces. The invention may refer to using Aluminum and Silicon alloy in a twin wire arc spray method, to create sacrificial and protective coatings on the surfaces, such as substrates and machine parts. Machine parts may be, for example, of sputtering system. The method may utilize a predefined range of Silicon to be alloyed with Aluminum to improve the physical properties of the Aluminum, and further avoid damages to the coated surface, such as de-lamination and flaking of the coatings and coated surfaces. Additionally, generation of defects during a sputtering process may be efficiently reduced.
Abstract: Method of Making particles including a YAG core and a coating of sintering aid deposited thereon. The particles and agglomerates thereof maybe formed as a powder. The coated YAG-containing particles are well-suited to production of polycrystalline YAG-containing ceramics. The coated YAG-containing particles may be fabricated using a novel fabrication method which avoids the need for formation of a homogeneous powder mixture of YAG and sintering aid. The mixture may be sprayed into a drying column and dried to produce coated particles. Alternatively, the YAG particles and sintering aid or sintering aid precursor solution may be separately introduced to the drying column and dried to form coated YAG-containing particles.

Abstract: A surface coating method and a method for reducing irreversible capacity loss of a lithium rich transitional oxide electrode are disclosed herein. In an example of the surface coating method, a dispersion of a lithium rich transitional oxide powder and an oxide precursor or a phosphate precursor in a liquid is formed. The liquid is evaporated. The forming and evaporating steps are carried out in the absence of air to prevent precipitation of the oxide precursor or the phosphate precursor. Hydrolyzation of the oxide precursor or the phosphate precursor is controlled under predetermined conditions, and an intermediate product is formed. The intermediate product is annealed to form an oxide coated lithium rich transitional oxide powder or the phosphate coated lithium rich transitional oxide powder.

Abstract: A method of surface modification for analyzing of phosphorylated peptides. The surface of solid substrates is modified for efficient phosphorylated peptide preconcentration from complex peptide mixtures prior to detection based on desorption/ionization mass spectrometry. The method of surface functionalization is introduced by ambient ion landing. The approach is based on electronebulization, differently said electrospray, of solutions of organometallic compounds related to elements of 4B class of periodic table of elements, especially to zirconium, hafnium and titanium. The generated charged electrospray is dried on the fly by passing the heated compartment and focused to a surface for modification forming a stable oxide layer there. The surface modified this way has been used for phosphopeptide enrichment from peptide mixtures prior to desorption/ionization mass spectrometry.

Abstract: A wavelength-shift composite light-storing powder and method of manufacturing and applying the same. Wherein, inorganic metal oxide and light-storing material containing rare earth elements are made to collide at high speed in an environment of extremely low temperature. The collision process makes said inorganic metal oxide to produce fusion reaction on surface of said light-storing material, that causes changes of lattice structure, to generate photon shift phenomenon and produce said wavelength-shift composite light-storing powder. Said composite light-storing powder is apt to engage cross-linked structure of thermoplastic polymer in a high temperature blending process, to achieve even distribution. Finally, through a filament process to produce successfully light-storing fibers capable of emitting lights of various wavelengths, to raise its heat resistance and wash durability.

Abstract: The surface of fine pigment particles is efficiently treated using low energy without causing a cost increase. Provided is a method of treating the surface of fine pigment particles, characterized by maintaining a small gap of 1 mm or narrower between two treating surfaces which are able to get close to and apart from each other and relatively rotate and using the gap between the two treating surfaces which is kept so narrow, as a passage for a fluid to be treated, thereby forming a thin film of the fluid to be treated (forced thin film). Fine pigment particles are formed in this thin-film fluid (forced thin film). The method is further characterized by modifying the surface of the formed fine pigment particles within the thin-film fluid (forced thin film).
