  • Patent number: 11752257
Abstract: A medical device for infusing medical substances has activation buttons accessible on an exterior of a device housing. The activation buttons and corresponding electrical switches within the housing are configured to prevent inadvertent activation of the buttons and therefore inadvertent operation of the switches to initiate a process such as medical substance delivery to a user. The device employs overlap of respective time traces initiated by activation of the activation buttons to determine whether the activation is intended and valid. The respective time traces do not have to be initiated simultaneously or in any particular sequence. The activation buttons can be elastomeric overmolded buttons set within cutouts in the housing, and, when depressed, make physical contact with respective switches.

  • Patent number: 11701141
Abstract: An introducer needle assembly including a compressible section between a rigid needle and a hub. Once a vessel is entered as determined by blood entering a syringe, the compressible section of the introducer needle is occluded by compressing the compressible section with a thumb and a finger. Neither blood nor air can pass. Since the compressible section is in a flattened area it is easier to hold the needle while the syringe is unscrewed. An operator then can begin threading a guidewire down a divide which is now easier to enter because blood is not coming out of the hub thus obscuring a lumen.

  • Patent number: 11672738
Abstract: Single dose drug dosage form dispensing devices, and methods for operating such devices are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a housing defining an actuation pathway and a pusher. At least a portion of the pusher is disposed within the actuation pathway such that distal end portions of the pusher and the housing define a volume configured to contain a drug-containing tablet. The pusher is configured to move relative to the housing in a distal direction from a first position to a second position to expel the tablet from the volume. The distal end portion of the pusher is extended from an opening in the housing when the pusher is in its second position. The housing is configured to limit movement of the pusher relative to the housing in a proximal direction towards the first position of the pusher after the tablet is expelled.

  • Patent number: 11547836
Abstract: A coaxial stabilizing and sealing catheter provides increased support to a guide catheter that is seated in an ostium of a branch artery by extending through and out of a distal end of the guide catheter and anchoring in position within the branch artery that is being treated. The stabilizing and sealing catheter includes, as part of a relatively flexible distal section, a balloon that locks a distal end of the stabilizing and sealing catheter in place to provide support to therapeutic devices that are introduced and further seals the branch artery to prevent blood from entering the branch artery. A sealing cuff at a proximal end of the stabilizing and sealing catheter provides a seal between an exterior of the stabilizing and sealing catheter and an interior of the guide catheter. In addition, a fixing mechanism is utilized to lock the guide catheter in place to exchange therapeutic devices.

  • Patent number: 11510867
Abstract: A flexible implantable contraceptive disc device is disclosed which can be inserted inside the female body, such as inside the uterus, is disclosed. The disc device can be bent and inserted into a laparoscopy tube, which allows it to be delivered to an appropriate location inside a female subject. The disc device has three layers, a central core silicon reservoir containing an active ingredient, such as a contraceptive progesterone, which is sandwiched and encased by upper and lower porous silicon casings. The casings are porous to the contraceptive, allowing controlled release over a prolonged period of time. The lower casing has a series of micro-hooks around a circumference, allowing the disc device to be attached to a desired tissue by rotating the disc device such that the hooks engage with the desired tissue. Such a device is easier to insert, and to remove, than a rod-like rigid plastic T-shape IUDs which are considerably larger, also and more expensive to manufacture.
