  • Patent number: 6388646
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to reduce a leakage low-frequency electric field from a panel section of a matrix type. In the case where a panel section has a usual current structure in which the panel section has a single common electrode elongating over the whole of the display region of the panel section, the maximum voltage difference of a reference signal supplied to the common electrode is defined to be 0.3678×x−0.6136 (wherein x is the area of the display region) or less. In the case where the panel section has the so-called counter source structure and a plurality of column electrodes, the maximum voltage difference of a reference signal supplied to the column electrodes is defined to be ax−b (wherein a=0.3565×y−0.6829, b=−0.0937y+0.7091, and y is a ratio of the area of all the column electrodes to the area of the display region) or less.

  • Patent number: 6388648
Abstract: An LCD projection unit employs a luminance and color balance system employing an LCD array characterization lookup table storing multiple sets of luminance and gamma correction values that are user selectable to control luminance and color balance. The lookup table values are determined by measuring the transfer function of the LCD array in the projection unit for each of a set of red (“R”), green (“G”), and blue (“B”) input data values, converting the resulting S-curve responses to corresponding sets of gamma responses and scaling the gamma responses to generate multiple R, G, and B families of luminance and gamma corrected values. Color balance is adjusted by selecting the particular R, G, and B families of luminance and gamma corrected values that cause the LCD projection unit to match a predetermined ratio of R, G, and B luminance values.

  • Patent number: 6377246
Abstract: An improved keyboard, and a data terminal incorporating same, is disclosed. The present keyboard advantageously includes a keyboard membrane having, on an upper side, a plurality of raised regions upon which character designators can be placed. A plurality of upper key members are disposed on a lower side of the keyboard membrane. Each upper key member is advantageously structurally adapted to return itself, after removal of an actuating force, to an unactuated position. The raised regions on the upper side, and the upper key members on the lower side of the keyboard membrane are advantageously molded from a single elastomeric layer, thereby replacing hundreds of parts in conventional computer-style keyboards using sliding-plunger type key mechanisms. A plurality of lower key members are disposed on a circuit board underneath the keyboard membrane. The lower key members are structurally adapted to prevent “rock over” when a user depresses a raised region somewhat off-center.

  • Patent number: 6300945
Abstract: A monitor provides analog conditioning circuitry for supplying a symmetrical high speed analog output signal generated from inverted and non-inverted digital data to imagers for a display of the monitor. The circuitry includes an upper bias amplifier for generating a precision upper DC offset signal, a lower bias amplifier for generating a precision lower DC offset signal, a switch for alternating selection of a precision DC offset signal with each frame, and a summing amplifier for adding the selected precision DC offset signal to a high speed analog signal provided by a digital-to-analog converter. Selection of the precision DC offset signal is controlled by an inversion signal provided to the switch from an inversion bit of a display controller. The digital data inversion is controlled by inversion circuitry within the display controller. The analog conditioning circuitry thus provides a single gain path and also provides low speed signal paths decoupled from a high speed signal path.
