Abstract: Systems and methods enabling search of a repository for the location of data that is similar to input data, using a defined measure of similarity, in a time that is independent of the size of the repository and linear in a size of the input data, and a space that is proportional to a small fraction of the size of the repository. The similar data segments thus located are further analyzed to determine their common (identical) data sections, regardless of the order and position of the common data sections in the repository and input, and in a time that is linear in the segment size and in constant space.

Abstract: Computer implemented methods, apparati, and computer-readable media for empirically adjusting access to a database (1). An apparatus embodiment comprises: coupled to the database (1), a database discovery module (11) for determining authorized accesses to the database (1); coupled to the database (1), a command monitoring module (12) for monitoring actual accesses to the database (1); and coupled to the database discovery module (11) and to the command monitoring module (12), an analysis module (13) for comparing actual accesses with authorized accesses.

Abstract: A method includes defining a host capability; creating for a storage device a second directory tree from a first directory tree of the storage device that is included in a file system within the storage device; and, for a data file that is stored in the storage device and is selectable for consumption by a host through the first directory tree that is included in the storage device's file system, determining whether the data file requires for consumption a host having the defined host capability. If the data file requires a host having the defined host capability, an entry is created in the second directory tree in which the data file is not selectable for consumption by the host. Otherwise, an entry is created in the second directory tree in which the data file is selectable for consumption by the host.

Abstract: Where destination candidates that are selected by a search are arranged in a specified display order, the candidates are divided into two subgroups, based on a median value, and a first destination candidate, a median destination candidate, and a last destination candidate are displayed. Where a desired candidate is included among the three displayed candidates, a user chooses the desired candidate. Where the desired candidate is not displayed, the user selects one of a first subgroup button and a second subgroup button to display the destination candidates in the subgroups before and after the median value, respectively. If two-hundred-fifty-three candidates are displayed in a sequential list in five candidate display spaces, a maximum of fifty operations are required to view all of the candidates. In contrast, the divided display arranges the two-hundred-fifty-three candidates into six levels, so the desired candidate can be selected in a maximum of six operations.

Abstract: A method for analyzing content on a web page. In one method embodiment, the present invention accesses a web page having content. Additionally, the web page is processed through a filter wherein the filter transfers the content of the web page to an analyzer. The analyzer analyzes the content of the web page. The analyzer then returns the result of the analyzing to the server which appends the result of the analyzing to the content of the web page. The results are then displayed on the web page. In so doing, the ability to provide an analysis of the functionality of a web page at the time of development is provided.

Abstract: Users may be protected from scumware included on or associated with web sites indexed by a search engine. The search engine may, for instance take the presence of scumware into account when ranking or determining whether a document matches a search query or provide information with search results that indicates that a particular search result link may be associated with scumware. In one implementation, a search engine generates search results for a search query to obtain documents that are relevant to the search query. The search engine may then format the search results as a web page that includes visual indicators associated with those of the relevant documents that have been determined to be associated with scumware.

Abstract: A system, such as a database system, includes a shared library having plural routines. A linking procedure is used in which a routine (referred to as a “first routine”) is linked to a stub library containing stub programs corresponding to other routines that the first routine is authorized to invoke. If no linking error occurs, the first routine is then linked to the shared library. In some implementations, the first routine is one of a user-defined method (UDM), user-defined function (UDF), or stored procedure created in response to a database query language (e.g., Structured Query Language or SQL) statement.

Abstract: A method and mechanism for managing a time-indexed block map in a file system configured to store multiple versions of file data. A file system includes inodes or other structures corresponding to files in the system. Responsive to creating a file, one or more blocks are allocated for use in storing the file data. A block map is maintained for the file and is updated to include an identification of the blocks storing the file data and a timestamp corresponding to the stored data. In response to creating a file, data corresponding block map is maintained. In addition, a new entry is created in the block map which identifies the newly allocated blocks. Further, an entry of the block map is updated to (i) identify the particular blocks to which the write was directed and (ii) include a timestamp corresponding to the time of the write.

Abstract: Systems, methods and computer program products for generating substitute titles for a content item in response to a user submitted title for the content item. A method receives a user generated title and generates a plurality of candidate substitute titles. A first quality score is calculated for the user generated title and a plurality of second quality scores are generated for the plurality of candidate substitute titles. The user generated title for the content item is replaced with at least one of the plurality of candidate substitute titles on the basis of the quality scores.

Abstract: Methods and systems for managing alerts in a database are provided, whereby the alerts originate from at least one business application due to exceptional situations, and whereby the alerts are represented as objects, each object corresponding to one of a number of configurable alert types. Each of the alert type may be configured, so that alerts of that alert type comprise at least one of: an ID for uniquely identifying the alert, information representative of the type of alert, message text being descriptive of the alert, a set of parameters representative of business or control objects associated with the alert, an alert scope being representative of the relevance for partners or users, feedback information being representative of time and identity of acknowledging the alert by a partner or user, status information for controlling follow-up actions, validity time information, and priority information.

Abstract: Systems and methods of the present invention allow a file owner to upload and store a file to a File Storage Area. The file owner may synchronize a periodic clock to a time-based approval period during which the file owner may grant permissions to access the file. A file owner interface may store contact information for the file owner, and ping the information, substituting alternate contact information as necessary, alerting the file owner of any failure of the contact information prior to expiration of the time-based approval period. After expiration of the time-based approval period, grant of file permissions may be automatically approved.

Abstract: The amount of work processing (main processing amount) of a database is acquired and accumulated. A value (main processing index) indicating the transition of the amount of main processing amount available in a time frame that is presumed to be required for backup is calculated by using the amounts of main processing accumulated during the latest period of time. The main processing index is compared with the backup executability reference value which is a threshold value determining the backup executability. If the main processing index is smaller than the threshold value, backup is executed. If the main processing index is larger than the threshold value, backup is not executed but the amount of main processing is again acquired to calculate the main processing index, and the main processing index is compared with the backup executability reference value.

The returned identifiers may include the files' pathnames or inode identifiers of the files' inodes.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an Internet automatic electrical data system that comprises a process controller used to process the analyzing order for IC (integrated circuit) packages entrusted by clients. A database is used to store the input parameters of IC packages and parameters database is used to provide the condition parameters relative to the model of IC package entrusted by clients. An electrical simulation and analyzing software is introduced to analyze the parameters input by clients and the condition parameters provided by the condition parameter database. A report form generator is used to generate the report form of analyzing result and a replying means is used to send the report forms to the clients.

Abstract: Corpus analysis methods have previously been applied to text, typically to annotated text. The invention shows how to apply corpus analysis methods to information captured in databases, where the database columns include a mixture of both structured domains and unstructured domains containing text. It uses case-based methods to automatically organize cases for periodic review. The invention can help to identify opportunities for increasing knowledge about databases. By organizing a database around common lexical, semantic, pragmatic and syntactic relationships, the invention can be used to increase the effectiveness of previous corpus analysis methods, and to apply them to a diversity of commercial applications. The invention applies contextual constraints to focus the application of linguistic methods.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for recognizing user input. User input is applied to at least one model to identify at least one decoded value found in a grammar. The decoded value and at least one database value stored in the grammar are then returned. The database value corresponds to a database value found in a database that is separate from the grammar. Under one embodiment, the database is associated with an application that accesses database values in the database. Under a further embodiment, two database values are returned with the decoded value where one of the database values corresponds to a database value in a first database and the other database value corresponds to a database value in a second database.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system for supporting a tariff code selection. The system comprises a database for storing commodity codes for the commodities in association with tariff codes used in an importing country, said database being searched using the commodity code as a key. Tariff code selection tables are included in the database for storing tariff items hierarchically classified in accordance with the attributes thereof. The system is programmed to search a record of a commodity code similar to the commodity code of the search key when said search key resulted in no hits The tariff code selection table including the record of the similar commodity code is displayed on a display device.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for indicating that a link on a web page is to an external link previously this was done by the webmaster. The current method carries this out by the client software comparing the domain name of the current document's URL with that of the link in question, and applying a visual indicator to the link if it is external.
