  • Patent number: 5884529
Abstract: A shifting device for an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle is presented, which has two shift gates, wherein the first shift gate is an automatic shift gate and the second shift gate is a step-by-step shift gate. A selector lever support is mounted with the selector lever pivotably around the selector axis. The selector lever support accommodates the selector lever pivotably around a shifting axis and can be caused by a locking pin to mesh with a complementary recess of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5875683
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for locking a gear train in high and low gear modes. A printed circuit board has first, second and third conductive pads, each of which are in electrical communication with a main circuit. A conductive clip having first and second contact portions is in slidable contact with the conductive pads, and is adapted to shift between a high gear position and a low gear position in response to actuation by an actuator. The low gear position is defined when the first contact portion contacts the first conductive pad and the second contact portion contacts the second conductive pad, and the high gear position is defined when the first contact portion contacts the second conductive pad and the second contact portion contacts the third conductive pad. The actuator is adapted to actuate the clip into the respective high and low gear positions in response to a signal from the main circuit and to cease actuation when the clip is at the respective high and low gear positions.

  • Patent number: 5807203
Abstract: In order to improve the transmission efficiency of a toroidal type continuously variable transmission by reducing the dynamic torque loss of an antifriction bearing, a first output gear is constituted by a pair of helical gears of which the directions of inclinations are opposite to each other, and a second output gear is constituted by a double helical gear. By this construction, a thrust force created in the meshing portion between the first and second output gears is offset and the dynamic torque loss of the antifriction bearing is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4010832
Abstract: An electromagnetic clutch has a toothed driving clutch member and a toothed driven clutch member which are moved together upon energization of an electromagnet with their teeth in engagement. A spring disengages the teeth when the electromagnet is deenergized. The spring provides a relatively large spring force for initial breakaway to overcome residual magnetism and metal to metal contact of the teeth. After initial breakaway the spring provides only sufficient force to further separate the members. With this arrangement a small magnet may be used to engage the clutch because the large force of the spring must be overcome only during final engagement of the clutch.

  • Patent number: 3942337
Abstract: A torque limiting device employing a clutch disposed within a cylindrically shaped housing and coupling first and second members coaxially mounted in the respective ends of the cylindrically shaped housing. The first and second members are rotatably mounted in the housing and adapted for engagement with the torqueing device and work respectively or vice versa. Manual rotation of one housing section relative to the other housing section adjusts to predetermined maximum value the torque which is transmitted through the device, viz., between the first and second members.
