Patent number: 7311867Abstract: A method for fabricating a pool mold comprising the steps of creating a recess, the recess having the general shape and contour of the desired finished pool and is installed with support materials and surface references. A layer of forming material is place over the support materials and surface references and formed to desired contour and grade. The forming material has substantially uniform coefficients of thermal expansion and heat transfer. The surface of the recess is sealed and coated with a release agent. A mold is then fabricated within the recess.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2005Date of Patent: December 25, 2007Assignee: The RTR Group, Inc.Inventors: Raymond J. Cronise, IV, Theodore F. Baudendistal, Richard E. Black, Jr.

Patent number: 6872432Abstract: A hollow, reinforced, molded automotive hard top is made using a sheet of thermoplastic material with nanoparticles dispersed therein. The particles comprise less than 15% of total volume of the plastic sheet, at least 50% of the particles have a thickness less than about 20 layers, and at least 99% of the particles have a thickness of less than about 30 layers. The sheet is preheated and molded in an assembly having mold surfaces corresponding to the hard top configuration. Vacuum is applied to one side of the assembly and pressurized gas is applied to the opposite side of the assembly to force the sheet into conformity with the mold surfaces. After cooling, the conformed sheet is transferred to another mold assembly, where a reinforced plastic melt having a blowing agent is applied. Together, the solidified melt and the conformed plastic sheet form the hard top.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2002Date of Patent: March 29, 2005Assignee: Magna International of America, Inc.Inventor: Phillip S. Patent number: 6824716Abstract: A process for producing porous polymer material. The method combines a polymer and water-soluble granules to form a mixture. The mixture is placed into a mold; the surface of the polymer is dissolved to cause cohesion and form a polymer structure having water-soluble granules dispersed within, and water is introduced into the inner part of the polymer structure so that the polymer is solidified and water-soluble granules are washed out to obtain a porous polymer material. According to the invention, single or multiple layers of porous polymer material with different apertures, porosities, or made with different materials, are obtained by combining different polymer materials and water-soluble granules having different particle sizes in different weight ratios.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2002Date of Patent: November 30, 2004Assignee: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Chun-Jen Liao, Yu-Ju Lin, Chin-Fu Chen, Ken-Yuan Chang

Patent number: 6752954Abstract: A manufacturing method is provided for a roller, by which a roller having low eccentricity and high surface smoothness can be obtained without the need to perform cumbersome processes such as polishing of a foamed layer. The manufacturing method for a roller includes the steps of injecting a foam-layer compound into the space between a core bar, which is disposed at the center of a cylindrical mold, and an electron beam-irradiated tube, which has an outer diameter somewhat smaller than an inside diameter of the cylindrical mold, and which is set inside the cylindrical mold, and heating and foaming the foam-layer compound, so that the outer surface of the electron beam-irradiated tube is pressed against the inner surface of the cylindrical mold.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2002Date of Patent: June 22, 2004Assignee: Sumitomo Electric Fine Polymer, Inc.Inventors: Kazuaki Ikeda, Katsuya Yamada

Patent number: 5534206Abstract: Baked pencil leads in which a filler such as flaky graphite is oriented in a concentric tubular form in an outer peripheral portion of each lead and which has one or more layers spaced in a radial direction from the outer peripheral portion and comprising the filler oriented in the concentric tubular form between the central portion and the outer peripheral portion of each lead and in which the filler is at random or radially oriented in the other portions of each lead. The baked pencil leads can be obtained by the use of a plurality of concentric conical tubular straightening plates having the sectional area of a flow path continuously decreased toward a nozzle orifice, in extruding a kneaded material mainly comprising the filler and a binder. In the baked pencil leads, strength can be remarkably improved without lowering density, and thus these baked pencil leads are excellent in the balance between the strength and the density.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1995Date of Patent: July 9, 1996Assignee: Mitsubishi Pencil Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hideo Odashima

Patent number: 5108524Abstract: A hot melt gasket or liner is applied to a portion of a manually operated dispenser having a closure cap for coupling the dispenser to a container. The material may contain a predetermined amount of gaseous fluid to form a foamed hot melt material having a predetermined density. After the material cools to room temperature, it forms an anti-slip gasket seal which, upon coupling the cap to the container neck, the hot melt material is compressed for restricting movement of the dispenser about the central axis of the container and for preventing formation of a leak path between the container rim surface and the dispenser.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1990Date of Patent: April 28, 1992Assignee: Calmar Inc.Inventor: Mark A.
