  • Patent number: 4811565
Abstract: A steam turbine inlet valve control system includes separately tunable valve characteristics for single valve and sequential valve operation modes. The sequential valve characteristics include both normal and alternate sequences which can be selected during operation of the steam turbine. The characteristics may be displayed to an operator and modified by graphical manipulation to simplify tuning the control system's characteristics to the steam turbine's operation. The control system also performs direct tracking of flow through the valves by converting sensed position signals to individual valve flow signals using a lift-to-flow conversion characteristic. Individual valve flow signals are summed and corrected for choked flow conditions to produce a tracked flow demand signal.

  • Patent number: 4698975
Abstract: An engine-operated machine such as an electric generator includes a box-shaped casing, an engine disposed in an upper portion of the casing, a machine unit disposed in a lower portion of the casing, and a power transmission assembly by which the engine is operatively connected to the machine unit. The box-shaped casing includes a casing body having front and rear openings, a pair of upper doors mounted on the casing body for opening and closing upper portions of the front and rear openings, respectively, a pair of lower doors mounted on the casing body below the upper doors for opening and closing lower portions of the front and rear openings, respectively, independently of the upper doors, and a pair of screen doors mounted on the casing body inwardly of the lower doors, respectively, for opening and closing the lower portions of the front and rear openings, respectively. A fuel tank is slidably removably disposed in the casing adjacent to the machine unit.

  • Patent number: 4055048
Abstract: Condensate purification such as demineralization, filtration or sterilization for use in a power plant of the type having at least one main condenser with a hot well as part of the steam cycle and in which the condenser is connected to receive steam from a turbine generator and the hot well is connected to discharge to a main condensate pump. Purification of the condensate is executed with improved method and apparatus comprising a side stream demineralization system. The improvement includes a baffle mounted within said main condenser defining an upstream portion of the condenser on one side of the baffle and a downstream portion of the condenser on the other side of said baffle. The condenser hot well is located on the downstream side of the baffle. A passageway is defined over the baffle for flowing fluid therethrough to the hot well. The passageway includes a weir cooperatively disposed therewith on the upstream side of the baffle to hold back a pool of fluid from flowing through the passageway.
