  • Patent number: 8843313
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus are disclosed for multipath isolation through the combined use of antenna diversity and frequency diversity. In particular, the present disclosure utilizes antenna diversity and frequency diversity to combat the deleterious effects of reflected signals on the positioning accuracy of satellite navigation systems. In at least one embodiment, the present disclosure uses two antennas and two frequencies for operation with a satellite navigation system. The present disclosure segregates the antennas and frequencies into two classes: references and monitors. The reference measurements are used for estimating the state of the vehicle, and the monitor measurements are used to detect faults that might degrade the reference estimation. Thus, the present disclosure enables an improvement in the positioning error experienced by roving users in downtown and indoor environments.

  • Patent number: 8768533
Abstract: A communication device includes a first resistance circuit (RB) connected between an output of a signal generating unit (602) and a first terminal (TS1) and having a resistance value corresponding to a requested operation mode requested to a vehicle. The vehicle (10) includes: a second resistance circuit (RA) connected between a ground node (512) fed with a reference potential and a second terminal (TS2); and a vehicle control unit (508) for setting an operation mode of the vehicle. The vehicle control unit (508) detects a signal potential of a signal (CPLT) via a first signal extraction node (N1) provided on a path connecting the second terminal (TS2) and a second resistance circuit (RA) to each other, and sets the operation mode of the vehicle (10) at the requested operation mode corresponding to the resistance value of the first resistance circuit (RB).

  • Patent number: 8761980
Abstract: A start support apparatus to be disposed in an electromotive vehicle includes a requested driving force calculation portion, the startable driving force calculation portion, and an indication portion. The requested driving force calculation portion calculates a requested driving force that is generated at a motor based on operation by a driver of the electromotive vehicle. The startable driving force calculation portion calculates a startable driving force that is required to be generated at the motor for starting the electromotive vehicle. The indication portion shows a degree of gap between the requested driving force and the startable driving force.

  • Patent number: 8744705
Abstract: A method of controlling an offgoing clutch in a transmission during a power downshift includes detecting the downshift, reducing a pressure command to the offgoing clutch, and introducing a calibrated error value to a pressure command for the offgoing clutch during the inertia phase. The method also includes synchronizing the speed of the offgoing and an oncoming clutch during the torque phase, determining the offgoing clutch pressure and torque after synchronizing clutch speeds, and then recording a clutch gain as a function of the offgoing clutch pressure and torque. The recorded clutch gains are used to control a subsequent power downshift of the transmission. A controller using proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control logic introduces the error as PID error in a pressure control signal, and controls slip across the offgoing clutch. A transmission is also disclosed having an offgoing clutch and controller configured to execute the above method.

  • Patent number: 6778175
Abstract: The present invention, a method of the arbitration of memory request for a computer graphics system, consecutively services the requests having the same type in the same period, thereby increasing the chance of page-hit. In this arbitration method, the length of a fixed period is defined by the 3-D graphics engine in accordance with the amount of memory cycles or the amount of the requests, and is used for controlling the amount of the requests of each type. The length of the period can be the cycles of servicing a block comprising a tile or several tiles. Alternatively, instead of defining a fixed length of the period, the 3-D graphics engine can choose another arbitration method of the present invention. Another arbitration method of the present invention is to mark a message at the end of the drawing block, so that the memory control can decide to rotate the service order to the next type of requests according to the block-end message received.

  • Patent number: 6774904
Abstract: A method and apparatus updates video graphics changes of a managed computer to a remote computer. These updates may be performed independent of the operating system. In one embodiment, the screen (e.g., frame buffer) of the managed computer is divided into a number of blocks. A remote management controller snoops a bus coupling a processor to a video graphics controller to determine whether the processor has changed the contents of some blocks. If so, the location of the first changed block and the last changed block is stored in a pair of registers. The registers are periodically checked during the normal row-by-row scanning of the blocks. If the registers contain information indicating that a portion of the frame buffer has been changed, the remote management controller may temporarily terminate normal scanning in favor of scanning the changed portion.

  • Patent number: 6753869
Abstract: A computer system which tends to give priority to user commands rather than to screen updates includes an event command queue (38) to which both user commands (from 14) and system screen update commands (from event controller 230) are applied. The information to be displayed is stored in a data container (226), and is accessed by a display processor (2280 in response to screen update commands from the output (38r) of the event queue (38). In order to allow user commands to have preference over system screen update commands, the event controller monitors the number of commands in the event queue, and does not issue a screen update command so long as the number of commands in the queue is greater than a predetermined or threshold number. Thus, a stream of user commands will preempt the generation of system screen updates, thereby giving preference to the user commands.
