  • Patent number: 6744747
Abstract: Techniques for improved handoff searching in asynchronous systems, such as W-CDMA, are disclosed. In one aspect, a two-step search procedure is used when a list of neighbor codes is known. In the first step, a received signal is correlated with a slot timing code to locate on or more pilots and the slot boundaries associated therewith. In the second step, the received signal is correlated with each of the list of codes at the slot boundaries identified with pilots in the first step to identify the pilot code and the frame timing associated with each pilot. Various other aspects of the invention are also presented. These aspects have the benefit of decreasing search time, which translates to increased acquisition speed, higher quality signal transmission, increased data throughput, decreased power, and improved overall system capacity.

  • Patent number: 6535529
Abstract: In a ring network, when a line setting operation is carried out, in order to simplify a cross connect setting operation, cross connect information into which information about a terminal NE and command information have been registered is transmitted from a transmission source NE, and this information passes through a node which is between terminal NE and terminal NE. Accordingly, a line setting manager is no longer required to perform a pass-through cross connect setting operation with respect to node which are between terminal NE and terminal NE, but merely transmits the cross connect information from the transmission source NE, so that the pass-though setting operation of the repeater NE and the cross connect setting operation of the terminal NE can be carried out.

  • Patent number: 6532212
Abstract: A method and apparatus for routing frames through a fibre channel fabric to make the most efficient possible use of redundant inter-switch links between neighboring switches. The inter-switch links may have different bandwidths. The flow between adjacent switches is monitored to determine various local usage statistics and periodically adjust routing tables to move data flows from congested links to lightly loaded links.

  • Patent number: 6529489
Abstract: In a sequence for setting a communication channel via a communication network with a communication counter party, a plural communication connection setting method is comprised of: a plural ID requesting step at which a terminal and a relay switch which initiate a communication transmit a connection setting request based upon a single message on which a set of identification numbers (ID) for previously establishing a plurality of connections and a communication parameter is described in response to a predetermined request and a response answer; a rewriting step at which when one message for describing the plural IDs set is received, if the request is available, then the corresponding portions of the corresponding management (routing) table are sequentially rewritten to be managed; and a plural ID response step at which when the rewriting operations corresponding to the plural ID sets are accomplished, a setting response is returned by way of one message on which the plural IDs are written to the setting reques

  • Patent number: 6487167
Abstract: A method which can be implemented on a computer program product for use on a network of autonomous systems to provide an ability to exclude the routing of messages to a destination IP address through a specified autonomous system. On a network in which each autonomous system ignores update messages that already include its identification number and adds it own identification number to update messages that it forwards, the method involves adding the identification number of the specified autonomous system to any update message created for the destination IP address.

  • Patent number: 6480473
Abstract: The present invention involves a network polling protocol which treats the network as a logical ring or linear sequence of nodes linked together so that a polling request is simply propagated down or around the network one node at a time until a complete inventory of active nodes is achieved. The protocols also includes procedures for curing or repairing breaks in the linking protocol and for adding new nodes to the linking protocol. The linking protocol can also be used to establish hierarchal linked networks where top level hierarchies includes addresses to a permanent member of a linked network and bottom level hierarchies are a given linked network.

  • Patent number: 6240063
Abstract: A T-S-T 3-staged structure switching network control system in a digital switching system which avoids an entire switching system malfunction even a failure occurred in a space switch module, and guarantees a connection within a time switch module is realized for providing the switching system capable of improving its reliability. In each time switch module including a first stage time switch and a third stage time switch with their control processor, a selecting circuit is provided in front of an input of the third time switch for selectively connecting a junctor highway which is connected to an output of a second stage space switch in a space switch module or a highway which is connected to an input of the first stage time switch to the input of said third time switch. The control processor in each time switch module controls the selecting circuit to connect the highway to the input of the third stage time switch in the case that the space switch module is a faulty condition.

  • Patent number: 5771224
Abstract: A transmission system is disclosed which permits the receiving end to demodulate multi-valued modulated symbols successfully under fading conditions and reduces the amount of transmitted reference data to improve data transmission efficiency. At the transmitting end, a multiplexing section, a modulating section, and a transmitting section are provided. In transmitting an OFDM transmission frame, null symbols and reference symbols are placed in the beginning portion of the frame and QPSK symbols are placed in an information symbol data region in the frame with equal spacings in time and frequency. At the receiving end, a receiving section, a demodulation section, an equalizing section, and a demultiplexing section are provided. An error detector detects amplitude and phase errors of each carrier from the reference symbols, and a variation detector detects variations in the amplitude and phase of a received signal from the QPSK symbols.

  • Patent number: 5719852
Abstract: A spread-spectrum code division multiple access interference canceler for reducing interference in a direct sequence CDMA receiver having N chip-code channels. The interference canceler includes a plurality of correlators or matched filters, a plurality of spread-spectrum-processing circuits, subtracting circuits, and channel correlators or channel-matched filters. Using a plurality of chip-code signals, the plurality of correlators despreads the spread-spectrum CDMA signal as a plurality of despread signals, respectively. The plurality of spread-spectrum-processing circuits uses a timed version of the plurality of chip-code signals, for spread-spectrum processing the plurality of despread signals, respectively, with a chip-code-signal corresponding to a respective despread signal. For recovering a code channel using an i.sup.

  • Patent number: 5668807
Abstract: Transparent Time Division Multiplexer (TDM) Superchannels including multiple time slots assigned to a single logical channel are synchronized between transmitter and receiver. For a given time slot in an idle logical channel (286), the transmitter only starts transmitting output if this is the first time slot assigned to the logical channel (288) and output is available for the logical channel (290). Starting to transmit output is postponed (289) if this is not the first time slot assigned to the logical channel. Correspondingly, the receiver only expects new data blocks to start in the first time slot assigned to the logical channel.

  • Patent number: 5572510
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for measuring the condition of a receiving antenna of a base station in a TDMA radio system, in which TDMA channel structures according to ETSI/GSM recommendation 05.02 are used, by means of test measurements performed in predetermined TDMA time slots. According to the invention, the test measurements are performed, without disturbing the normal operation of the base station and without allocating a traffic channel, during time slots of an IDLE frame of a channel structure TCH/F+SACCH/TF and/or during time slots of an IDLE frame of a channel structure SDCCH/8 according to the ETSI/GSM recommendation 05.02.

  • Patent number: 5539741
Abstract: A computer workstation receives multiple audio input streams over a network in an audio conference. The audio input streams are kept separate by storing them in different queues. Digital samples from each of the queues are transferred to an audio adapter card 28 for output. A digital signal processor 46 on the audio adapter card multiplies each audio stream by its own weighting parameter, before summing the audio streams together for output. Thus the relative volume of each of the audio output streams can be controlled. For each block of audio data, the volume is calculated and displayed to the user, allowing the user to see the volume in each audio input stream independently. The user is also provided with volume control for each audio input stream, which effectively adjusts the weighting parameter, thereby allowing the user to alter the relative volumes of each speaker in the conference.
