  • Patent number: 9381384
Abstract: An electromechanical apparatus for evacuating buildings in the event of a fire includes a reel that has, rolled up on it, a mooring cable that longitudinally passes through the inside of a rigid tube, ending in an evacuation harness, where an individual will be secured. The weight of the individual makes it possible to rock the tube and a lever that has a braking disc and which acts on a brake disc that allows, by means of a mechanical transmission system, the braking and/or retention of the reel and consequently the descent of the individual. There is a radio-control unit and a standalone electric and electronic safety system that is activated when the speed of descent of the individual is too great. The apparatus allows evacuation and can be reused, once used. The apparatus carries away, brakes, retains and evacuates the individual making use of the electromechanical apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9366042
Abstract: A collapsible structure is described that can be erected to provide an elevated working platform having two ends and two sides. Two telescopically collapsible ladder frames (10, 12) are disposed above the level of the platform, one on each end of the platform. Each ladder frame (10, 12) is formed of two stiles (20, 22) having telescopically collapsible sections, rungs each extending between respective sections of the two stiles and latch mechanisms for locking the stile sections in the extended position of the ladder frame. Each of the ladder frames (10, 12) further incorporates a guardrail (30, 32) that lies parallel to the rungs (24) when the ladder frame is collapsed. The guardrail (30, 32) is mounted for rotation about a first stile and releasably secured to the second stile. After release from the second stile of the same ladder frame and rotation about the first stile each guardrail is connectable to the second stile of the other ladder frame to lie parallel to a side of the platform.

  • Patent number: 9364691
Abstract: The present invention relates to an escape device, involving a tube, a rail member, and a sliding unit. The tube, extending along a longitudinal direction, is provided with an exit end and intermittently with a plurality of escape openings. The rail member includes a plurality of sliding tracks sequentially connected to one another, wherein the neighboring sliding tracks are connected to each other by associating a relatively wide first end with a relatively narrow second end, the second end facing the exit end of the tube. The sliding unit comprises a deformable member which is adapted to slide on the rail member and configured to be pressed against by the second ends of the sliding tracks such that a slide resistance is generated to reduce sliding velocity. Therefore, the effects for the reduction of descending velocity as well as rapid and safe escape are achieved.

  • Patent number: 9347264
Abstract: An apparatus to secure a ladder to a ferromagnetic support such as an exposed ferromagnetic support comprises a pair of bracket clamping assemblies removably attached to a rung on a ladder. The brackets are pivotally bolted to magnet mounts, which each hold a permanent magnet that releasably holds the ladder in place against the support. The apparatus prevents the ladder from slipping, and further serves to hold the ladder at the proper angle for safe use. The apparatus finds particular application where exposed ferromagnetic metal beams are available in the workspace but tying a ladder for safety would be impractical.

  • Patent number: 9326500
Abstract: A platform is provided with a ladder to allow the user to easily ascend to the platform. A pair of stabilizing arms and jaws provides lateral stability to the ladder. A climbing stick has a pair of vertical posts attached between the front and rear walls of steps to provide a secure connection. The upper and lower ends extend inwardly and away from each other to provide a gripping surface. A tree stand has a male adapter with a bracket for securing a strap. The strap is used to secure the male adapter in place. Once secured to the tree, the platform area can be attached to the male adapter using a female adapter. The ability to first secure the smaller, lighter bracket and male adapter to a tree before attaching the platform using a female adapter increases the ease in securing the tree stand to a tree.

  • Patent number: 9322215
Abstract: A ladder includes a leveler engages a bottom of each side rail for 1) causing extendable legs to move to a level ground-engaging position, 2) causing the legs to lock when both legs engage the ground, and 3) causing the extendable legs to move to a centered/retracted position when lifted from the ground. The leveler includes pawls, links, pinions, and a shaft forming a four-bar linkage for selectively moving the pawls inward to the disengaged position when the pinion and shaft are each freely rotatable, but selectively moving the pawl outward into locking engagement when the shaft resists movement due to ground engagement by both legs. The leveler can be constructed to attach to an inside of the side rails, thus facilitating pre-assembly.

  • Patent number: 9308402
Abstract: The invention relates to a roping harness including a belt, a pair of leg loops, front and rear shoulder straps including at least one fall-arresting safety hooking point on the back, the rear shoulder straps being capable of sliding freely in the belt, while being attached by their lower ends to the leg loops. The back part of the belt is connected to the front shoulder straps by connecting means while being disconnected from the back hooking point. This results in holding the belt in place while preventing it from slipping when it must bear a certain weight of equipment, and a transfer of the load to the straps of the leg loops to the back hooking point during a fall.

  • Patent number: 9272166
Abstract: A movable cable loop descent system comprises a cable for forming into a loop, a receiver for attachment to a structure having a receiver pulley for engaging the cable loop, a brake assembly, having a drive pulley for being rotated by the cable loop, the brake assembly for slowing a rate of travel of the cable loop and a carriage supporting a load for attachment to the cable loop at a point and for movement between the structure and the ground. A rotor and substantially parallel conductive frame is mounted on an axle through the drive pulley. Magnets on a surface of the rotor and/or the frame induce eddy currents, as they are relatively rotated, which create a rotational braking force controlling descent of the carriage and load. The brake assembly may be removably positioned by a drive-on anchor. The cable is removable and the system may form a kit.
