  • Patent number: 11944580
Abstract: A wearable walking assist robot is provided that ensures high walking assistance performance without a complex calculation process by detecting a gait phase based on pressure distribution on feet and performing a corresponding control mode that is set in advance. The wearable walking assist robot includes a sensor unit that senses pressure on the soles of the feet of a wearer and a controller that determines gait phases of both a first leg to be operated and a second leg based on the sensed pressure. Additionally, the controller selects one of a plurality of control modes set in advance based on the determined gait phases and operates a joint-driving unit for the first leg to be operated.

  • Patent number: 11944550
Abstract: Provided is a system and method for providing a non-binding allograft subtalar joint implant for surgical implant into a person's foot proximate to the ankle. This system for repair includes at least one sterile non-binding allograft subtablar joint implant provided as a pre-formed allograft rod plug “ARP” having a diameter about equal to an average width of a canal between a person's talus and calcaneus bones, the ARP being resiliently compressible and flexible. When snuggly disposed between the person's talus and calcaneus bones, the ARP compresses during normal use of the person's foot and maintains the canal in an anatomically correct alignment and reduces a tendency for abnormal motion between the person's talus and calcaneus bones. An associated method of use is also provided.

  • Patent number: 11925558
Abstract: Devices and methods are disclosed for the treatment or repair of regurgitant cardiac valves, such as a mitral valve. An annuloplasty device can be placed in the coronary sinus to reshape the mitral valve and reduce mitral valve regurgitation. A protective device can be placed between the annuloplasty device and an underlying coronary artery to inhibit compression of the underlying coronary artery by the annuloplasty device in the coronary sinus. In addition, the protective device can inhibit compression of the coronary artery from inside the heart, such as from a prosthetic mitral valve that exerts radially outward pressure toward the coronary artery. The annuloplasty device can also create an artificial inner ridge or retaining feature projecting into the native mitral valve region to help secure a prosthetic mitral valve.

  • Patent number: 11903839
Abstract: Shoulder joint implants are disclosed herein for use in shoulder reconstruction that are configured to facilitate the inclusion a central bone screw for augmented bone fixation. The implant can include a baseplate (or metaglene) configured to secure a glenosphere or other prosthetic component to the glenoid. To facilitate lateral or proximal insertion of a central bone screw through the implant, a throughbore defined along the central axis of the metaglene can be widened to accommodate the maximum diameter of the screw. To enable fixation of the glenosphere to the metaglene, a collet can be configured to engage the smaller diameter of a glenosphere coupling element and inserted into the central throughbore. The collet and the bone screw can be separate parts, thereby making insertion of the bone screw optional. Alternatively, the collet and bone screw can be integrated together to form a unitary construct.

  • Patent number: 11793646
Abstract: A prosthetic implant replaces hyaline cartilage in a synovial joint with a flexible polymer sliding surface, preferably of hydrogel, on a segmented support with an array of adjacent segments to which the hydrogel is molded. Adjacent segments are laterally and angularly displaceable permitting the implant to conform to rounded or irregular surfaces or to be rolled or folded for arthroscopic placement. Tension cables threaded through segments along a circuit can cinch segments together for stiffening the supporting layer and/or the cable can pull the implant against a bone surface. Adjacent segments can have inter-engaged structures. In some embodiments the segments are carried on a flexible foil or fibrous sheet.

  • Patent number: 11744719
Abstract: A system and process for performing orthopedic surgery is provided that uses a tibial trial system in total knee arthroplasty for assessing optimal internal-external rotation and posterior tibial slope, and for measuring the rotation of a tibial trial throughout flexion-extension to determine and mark the best position for the final tibial component. The tibial trial system determines the internal-external location on a patient specific basis with improved component placement well within the present manual methods. One particular advantage to the tibial trial system is to assess the natural internal-external rotation that the tibial component will experience relative to the femoral component during flexion-extension as opposed to simply recording and balancing forces on a static tibial trial. The invention disclosed herein may also be adapted to be used with a computer assisted surgical device. Such surgical devices include active, semi-active, and haptic devices as well as articulating drill and saw systems.
