  • Patent number: 10392831
Abstract: There is disclosed a dead-latching slam bolt lock that includes a rotating dead-latching slam bolt which prevents attempts at breaking in without actuating the lock mechanism. A tongue or toggle acted on by the door jamb engages the bolt and initiates rotation thereof in the door closing direction, but is passive in the opening direction. The locking mechanism may be manual or electronic, and controls the position of a blocking element which alternately prevents and permits unlocking (rotation) of the rotating bolt. In a forward or blocking position, the blocking element prevents rotation of the bolt from a locked position, while in a retracted position the blocking element permits rotation of the bolt to an unlocked position. A spring detent plunger holds the rotating bolt in either its locked or unlocked positions.

  • Patent number: 10385592
Abstract: A door for vehicles includes a mechanism that prevents unlatching of the door if the door handle is moved at a high rate of speed, but permits unlatching during normal (e.g. manual) handle operation. The mechanism includes a wheel having a wheel tooth. The door mechanism also includes an inertia lever having a first pair of teeth. An input lever has a second pair of teeth that engage the wheel tooth and the first pair of teeth. This engagement prevents rotation of the input lever only when the input lever rotates at a rate above a predefined maximum rate thereby rotating the inertia lever relative to the wheel. Rotation of the input lever unlatches a door latch.

  • Patent number: 10352074
Abstract: A blowout latch includes a rotatable bolt that secures a first panel that is adjacent to a second panel to which the latch is affixed. The bolt is restrained by a toggle linkage that operates at one end of the bolt against a pressure-actuated spring. The linkage will release the bolt when an excessive opening force against the bolt exceeds a selected restraining force of the spring. When that condition occurs, the linkage will have deflected the spring and moved to a position where the end of the linkage bearing against spring loses it mechanical leverage with respect to the bolt. Thereafter, the bolt is free to continue rotation to a fully open position. The latch also includes a manual trigger release that disables the restraining linkage and permits free rotation of the bolt to the fully open position when this trigger is actuated.

  • Patent number: 10316549
Abstract: A lock for locking a door, the lock comprises a pin moveable between a retracted position and an extended position for locking the door and an actuator movable from a first position to a second position to move the pin from the retracted position to the extended position. Furthermore, the lock comprises a mechanism comprising a spring for biasing the pin to the retracted position and a latch. When in the latched position the latch prevents the pin from moving from the extended position to the retracted position, and when in an unlatched position the latch allows the pin to move from the extended position to the retracted position. The mechanism is adapted to disengage the actuator from the pin when the pin is in the extended position.
