  • Patent number: 11758519
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed to determine access control and channel and signaling priority. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may comprise a processor configured, at least in part, to determine device-to-device (D2D) data to be transmitted. The WTRU may determine if the D2D data may be transmitted. The WTRU may determine available scheduling assignment (SA) resources used for priority based D2D data signals. The WTRU may select one or more available SA resources used for priority based D2D data signals. The WTRU may transmit the D2D data, wherein the D2D data may be transmitted on the selected SA resources.

  • Patent number: 11751111
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for improved wireless terminal roaming. In some embodiments, a management module determines access point density metrics for a plurality of centrally managed access points of a communications site. The density metric considers an average RSSI of access point signals received by other access points of the site, and each access point's contribution to the average. A determination of whether a particular wireless terminal roams is based on the density metrics of the source and target access point, as well as statistics relating to a current capacity of each of the access points. The disclosed embodiments may determine that a wireless terminal should transition/roam away from an access point even when that access point's RSSI value at the wireless terminal is above a threshold that would cause traditional methods to inhibit roaming.

  • Patent number: 11751117
Abstract: The disclosed technology proposes a new methodology to include the effect of speed and direction of a UE into the threshold used for determining when to switch between a 4G UL connection and a 5G UL connection. The system can use a lookup table with various speeds mapping to varying thresholds. The system can use an accelerometer sensor or digital compass to determine the direction of the vehicle, such as heading away from or toward the 5G site, so the vehicle can switch sooner from 5G-NR to LTE and from LTE to NR, respectively. For C-V2X applications, latency is an important factor because 5G technology provides shorter latency than 4G; thus keeping the link on 5G is preferred when under good coverage. Further, the idea is not limited to UL, 5G and/or vehicle technologies, but can also be applied to DL direction, Wi-Fi and/or drone technologies as well.

  • Patent number: 11742920
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for determining whether a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) is to be transmitted, and a configuration for transmission of the CSI-RS on a wideband based on an outcome of a listen-before-talk (LBT) operation in multiple sub-bands of the wideband. In one aspect, a base station may transmit sub-band usage information indicating sub-band availability before the CSI-RS, thereby allowing a user equipment (UE) to determine whether the CSI-RS will be transmitted and, if so, on which sub-bands the CSI-RS will be transmitted. Furthermore, rate matching configurations are provided based on whether sub-band usage has been received, based on which sub-bands are available. Still further, power configurations and resource element selection criteria are provided for wideband CSI-RS and CSI feedback.

  • Patent number: 11743379
Abstract: A gateway device includes a call handling equipment (CHE) listener interface, an Internet Protocol (IP) interface, a provisioning engine, and a message parsing engine. The CPE listener interface forms a communication channel with a CHE and receives call event data from the CHE. The IP interface communicates with a cloud-based processing system. The provisioning engine receives, from the cloud-based processing system via the IP interface, instructions for parsing data from a data output format of the CHE into a consistent data format of the cloud-based processing system. The message parsing engine parses the call event data received from the CHE via the CHE listener interface, and formats the call event data according to the consistent data format. The gateway device transmits the formatted call event data to the cloud-based processing system via the IP interface.

  • Patent number: 11729692
Abstract: A base station and computing resources to be used by a user equipment (UE) within a network can be selected based on information, such as an identification of base station(s) that may be used by the UE, and the location and performance of the base station(s) and the available computing resources. In some examples, when a mobility controller determines to switch the base station for a UE, the computing resources used to perform application processing can also be switched. For instance, when the current base station is switched, the computing resources used to perform application processing for the UE may be moved to computing resources that are closer to the different base station. In other examples, the mobility controller may determine to delay switching the UE to the different base station if the performance of the mobile application would be better using the current base station and current computing resources.

  • Patent number: 11696337
Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) receives a set of Random Access preambles, determines its UAV status, and selects a Random Access preamble from the set of Random Access preambles. In some cases, the set of Random Access preambles are allocated for use by UAVs and are common to a plurality of neighboring cells. The UAV transmits the selected Random Access preamble to multiple neighboring cells. One of the neighboring cells that received the selected Random Access preamble transmits a Random Access Response to the UAV. The UAV determines which cell sent the Random Access Response, reselects to the cell that sent the Random Access Response, and transmits a Radio Resource Control (RRC) Connection Establishment Request to the reselected cell. Upon completion of a Random Access Channel (RACH) procedure, the reselected cell becomes the serving cell for the UAV.

  • Patent number: 11690000
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a user equipment comprising a receiver receiving a minimum-system-information message from a first radio base station. System information for the first radio cell that can be acquired by the UE is carried within the minimum-SI message and one or more additional-SI messages. The minimum-SI message includes system information for accessing the first radio cell and at least one system information index, each of which is associated with one of the additional-SI messages. The SI message index comprises a value tag and an area pointer, the latter pointing to one area already defined. Processing circuitry determines whether the UE had already acquired before the additional-SI message associated with the same value tag and the same area. If the determination is positive, the processing circuitry determines that system information included in said additional-SI message acquired before is applicable to the first radio cell.

  • Patent number: 11683737
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for signal offloading in an mmWave environment in the event of high fading. The methods and systems include one or more mmWave nodes that are each configured to wirelessly communicate with a user device in a geographic service area and a Wi-Fi access point configured to wirelessly communicate with the user device. The methods and systems determine that the user device has detected a fading measurement corresponding to an mmWave transmitted by one of the one or more mmWave nodes is above a threshold. In response to the fading measurement being above the threshold, the methods and systems redirect a control signal of the user device through the Wi-Fi access point to the one or more mmWave nodes. Accordingly, the user device transmit data through the Wi-Fi access point to the one or more mmWave nodes.
