  • Patent number: 10184289
Abstract: A disclosed spacer key is configured for insertion within hollow spacer sections, thereby connecting the hollow spacer sections. The spacer key may include a top wall and a bottom wall connected by opposing side walls such that the spacer key has a tubular cross section and longitudinally-extending body. To control how much of the body is inserted into each spacer section, one or more raised areas may be included on the exterior of the spacer key. Protrusions may extend laterally-outward from the spacer key, configured to contact one or more internal surfaces of surrounding spacer sections upon insertion. External surfaces of the spacer key lacking protrusions may include one or more depressed areas. Longitudinally-extending grooves may also be included on the exterior of the spacer key to accommodate various perforations that may protrude from surrounding spacer sections, thereby improving the fit between the spacer key and spacer sections.

  • Patent number: 10184509
Abstract: A composite filament-wound shaft with an end fitting mounted on an interface region on at least one end of said shaft, wherein in said interface region filaments of the filament-wound shaft are angled with respect to the shaft axis such that they follow a path with a radial component and have been cut so as to expose the ends of said filaments in said interface region; and wherein said end fitting comprises a helical thread engaging with said interface region. The helical threaded engagement provides excellent load transmission of axial forces and is therefore well suited to tension and compression elements. The joint provides a low cost and low weight interface.

  • Patent number: 10151317
Abstract: A vacuum system securing device to releasably secure a sealed connection between a first part and a second part of a vacuum system has a shaft having a longitudinal axis and is provided with a plurality of force applying members. The shaft is to be attached to the first part of the vacuum system to define a gap between the first part and the force applying members to receive the second part by a movement of the second part in a lengthways direction of the shaft. The shaft is movable relative to the first part to cause the force applying members to narrow the gap to apply a force pressing the second part towards the first part.

  • Patent number: 10149552
Abstract: A folding lock assembly for use in a frame for a portable child enclosure that includes a body housing first and second hinges for connecting a pair of equal-length side frame members. The respective hinges are limited in the degree of pivotal movement permitted each between a locked position in which the frame members are linearly aligned and a folded position in which the frame members are substantially parallel. The first hinge permits angular rotation less than 90 degrees while the second hinge permits angular rotation greater than 90 degrees. The differences in the range of hinge rotation offset the distal ends of the frame when the connected members are folded to eliminate a pinch point between frame end members. A latching mechanism is provided to maintain the hinges in a locked configuration wherein one hinge is locked by the position of the second hinge. Releasing the second hinge allows the first hinge to pivot as well.

  • Patent number: 10138926
Abstract: A low-cost, lightweight telescoping torque tube assembly is reliable, safe, and easy to operate. The assembly has no loose fasteners, and no tools are required to operate the telescoping assembly. The telescoping torque tube assembly has only two parts, namely an end fitting and a torque tube. A resiliently deflectable locking tab is provided on one of the parts, and the locking tab is received by a corresponding locking slot formed in the other part. The locking tab has an abutment edge, and the locking slot has a limit edge facing the abutment edge for engaging the abutment edge when the locking tab is undeflected to prevent axially directed adjustment of the end fitting relative to the torque tube from an extended position toward a retracted position. A user deflects the locking tab to enable adjustment of the end fitting from the extended position to the retracted position.
