  • Patent number: 10814169
Abstract: Determining pace or speed based on sensor data may include determining an amount of contact time a user's foot has with a workout surface such as the ground. Contact time may be determined by identifying samples in the sensor data that correspond to various events such as a heelstrike, a toe-off and a subsequent heelstrike. In one example, these events may be identified by determining a sequence of three sample values (e.g., a triplet) that exceeds corresponding thresholds. The validity of an identified triplet (e.g., heelstrike, toe-off and heelstrike) may be confirmed by determining whether a difference between a last event sample and a middle event sample is greater than a difference between the middle event sample and an initial event sample. Once confirmed, a contact time may be determined from the triplet. A linear or non-linear relationship may then be applied to the contact time to determine a speed or pace.

  • Patent number: 10787004
Abstract: Disclosed is a printing apparatus which performs printing on a medium in an inkjet mode. The printing apparatus includes inkjet heads and an ultraviolet irradiation section that is an energy ray irradiation section. In this printing apparatus, the ink is an ink containing a solvent and generating heat in accordance with ultraviolet rays. The ultraviolet irradiation section applies the ultraviolet ray to the ink on the medium to evaporate at least a portion of the solvent in the ink. When 45% by volume or more of the solvent evaporates from an initial solvent amount, the viscosity of the ink is 50 mPa·sec or more.

  • Patent number: 10787002
Abstract: An aqueous ink printer includes an anti-curl fluid applicator that applies anti-curl fluid to a side of a substrate that is opposite a side that bears or will bear an ink image. The anti-curl fluid applicator includes a switching network that is configured to independently and selectively bias segments of a pressure member electrically. The segments are arranged along a longitudinal axis of the pressure member. The pressure member forms a nip with a anilox roller partially immersed in a reservoir of anti-curl fluid. As the switching network is operationed to selectively and independently bias the segments electrically using data corresponding to the ink image, anti-curl fluid migrates from the anilox roller onto the substrate in areas opposite the electrically biased segments.

  • Patent number: 10780716
Abstract: An aqueous ink printer includes a moisture applicator that applies moisture to a side of a substrate that is opposite a side that bears or will bear an ink image. The moisture applicator includes a switching network that is configured to independently and selectively bias the tile segments electrically. The tile segments contiguously cover a surface of the roller. As the switching network is operated to electrically bias the tile segments using data corresponding to the ink image, they transition from being hydrophobic to hydrophilic so the electrically-biased hydrophilic tile segments attract moisture from water in a trough or from water vapor produced by an ultrasonic transducer in the trough. The moisture is carried by the electrically-biased tile segments to the substrate at areas where the amount of ink in a portion of the substrate on the other side of the substrate exceeds a predetermined ink coverage threshold.

  • Patent number: 10737490
Abstract: A valve type nozzle controls discharge of a liquid by opening and closing a discharge port by a valve element. The discharge port discharges the liquid, and the valve element moves by applying a predetermined voltage to a piezoelectric element. When the predetermined voltage is applied to the piezoelectric element, the piezoelectric element extends and the valve element moves in a direction where the moving mechanism opens the discharge port. This allows the liquid to be discharged. Further, when the application of the voltage to the piezoelectric element is released, the moving mechanism returns to an original shape by which the valve element closes the discharge port to prevent the discharge of the liquid.
