Abstract: An embodiment of an elastic contact device for electrically contacting electronic components is proposed. The contact device includes at least one basic module with a longitudinal axis, each one including an elastic core for defining an elasticity of the basic module (undergoing an axial elastic deformation in response to an axial compression), a first contact terminal element and a second contact terminal element coupled with the elastic core in axially opposed positions, and at least one elongated contact element extending axially between the first and second terminal elements, wherein each elongated element is configured to have a buckling axial critical load higher than zero for self-sustaining in absence of external forces during a production of the basic module and lower than a threshold compression (ranging approximately between 0.1% and 50%) for buckling thereby not contributing to the elasticity of the basic module during operation thereof.
Abstract: A storing section (70) stores a second initial contact instruction value, which is predefined as an instruction value for positioning a movable portion (5) to a second contact position where the movable portion (5) is contacted with a stopper (8), and an initial standby instruction value, which is predefined as an instruction value for positioning the movable portion (5) to a specified standby position within a moving range of the movable portion (5). A correcting section (42) calculates an actual standby instruction value by correcting the initial standby instruction value, based on a second actual contact instruction value obtained when a contact detection section (41) has detected that the movable portion (5) is positioned to the second contact position, and the second initial contact instruction value. A setting section (43) sets a standby position corresponding to the actual standby instruction value, as an actual standby position of the movable portion (5).
Abstract: A method, device and system for securely managing debugging processes within a communication device, such as a set top box or other multimedia processing device. For example, a security processor (SP) within the communication device manages the lifetime (LT) of any access token issued for use in activating debugging privileges within the communication device. The security processor authenticates an issued access token and securely delivers appropriate debug authorization information to the device controller. The security processor uses its secure, internal timer to count down the lifetime and update the remaining lifetime of the issued access token during the processing of each command by the security processor. In addition to securely managing the issuance of the access token and it's remaining lifetime, the updating process reduces any impact on the normal communications within the device. The method overcomes the issue of the communication device not having a secure internal clock.

Abstract: The invention discloses a compute system which may detect the state of a power supply. The system includes a power supply and a motherboard. The power supply has a detecting unit for detecting a power state of the power supply. The detected information is converted to a high-frequency signal and outputted to the motherboard via a “power good” pin in an ATX power connector. The motherboard may obtain a voltage, current, power, temperature and other values inside the power supply via the ATX power connector and allow the values to be displayed on the screen to provide a real-time monitoring function for the users.

Abstract: An optical system is able to achieve a substantially azimuthal polarization state in a lens aperture while suppressing loss of light quantity, based on a simple configuration. The optical system of the present invention is provided with a birefringent element for achieving a substantially circumferential distribution or a substantially radial distribution as a fast axis distribution in a lens aperture, and an optical rotator located behind the birefringent element and adapted to rotate a polarization state in the lens aperture. The birefringent element has an optically transparent member which is made of a uniaxial crystal material and a crystallographic axis of which is arranged substantially in parallel with an optical axis of the optical system. A light beam of substantially spherical waves in a substantially circular polarization state is incident to the optically transparent member.
Abstract: A decoding structure employs a main terminal (130), a first memristive switch (112) connected between the main terminal (130) and a first addressable terminal (132), and a second memristive switch (114) connected between the main terminal (130) and a second addressable terminal (134). The second memristive switch (114) is oriented so that a voltage polarity on the main terminal (130) that tends to turn the first memristive switch (112) on tends to turn the second memristive switch (114) off.

Abstract: This description relates to an apparatus, a method of manufacturing, and a method of tuning optical and/or electrical parameters of semiconductor devices and materials, thin film materials, or other devices. In one example, a laser is tuned to produce an adjustable output wavelength by coupling the laser to a tuning material or base such as, for example, a piezoelectric base using a suitable attachment method. The laser includes of a tunable material that is sensitive to stress and/or strain. Stress and/or strain applied to the laser from the tuning material results in an electronically variable output wavelength. As an example, applying a voltage to a piezoelectric base that serves as a tuning material can cause the base to expand or contract, and the expansions and contractions from the base are coupled to the tunable material of the laser, thus varying the wavelength of the output light from the laser.

Abstract: Jack-type tools for moving elements such as flooring elements by pulling and, alternatively, by pushing are shown and described. In an embodiment, the jack includes a base, a puller pivotably attached to the base, a ram extendable from the base, and a ram-drive mechanism in power-transmission relationship with the ram which is operative to extend the ram. The pivotably attached puller contacts a flooring element side portion during a pulling mode of operation and pivots out of the way so that the jack can push a flooring element during a pushing mode of operation. The ram extends from the base against a fixed surface such as a wall or cabinet to apply a force which pulls the flooring element with the puller to move the puller and flooring element away from the fixed surface and, alternatively, a force which pushes the flooring element by extension of the ram with the tool secured with respect to a subfloor or other support.
Abstract: An improved tubular structure adapted to increase in diameter upon application of axial force is provided. Increase in diameter is achieved by constructing the tube from multiple layers of material that move relative to each other during axial elongation of the tube. The tube of the present invention can be used both to avoid problems in “necking” found in many prior tube devices, and to provide additional benefits that increases in diameter of the tube during axial elongation can provide. As such, the tube of the present invention may be useful as a manufacturing aid, as a deployment sheath (for example, to deliver medical devices), and in other applications that may benefit from easier tubular sheath removal.
