Abstract: A method and system is provided for segmenting blocks of video data into chunks for consumption by player devices to create a new block to improve overall chunk creation. In one embodiment, issues that occur at the PCP block boundaries are handled by creating two chunks, one from the tail of content from the previous block and the other from the start of the new block, with the sums of the two chunks approximately equal to the target duration, improving manifest and chunk cadence creation. In another embodiment, chunks are created when the sink 104 requests a new manifest regardless of whether a proxy chunk timer pulling data from the PCP block has expired or not.
Abstract: Systems and methods for aiding user content navigation are described. An exemplary system may include an electronic device configured to receive audiovisual content and/or user inputs. The electronic device may additionally include one or more outputs coupled with a display device. The electronic device may further include one or more processors as well as memory, which when executed by the one or more processors, cause them to perform one or more navigation functions to receive a channel change command to adjust from a first channel to a second channel. The one or more processors may further be caused to determine that the second channel is presenting advertising content instead of program content, and determine that a third channel is presenting program content. The one or more processors may further be caused to adjust the output to the third channel.
Abstract: Techniques that address content interruptions are described. In an implementation, an interruption is detected at the client device in receipt of a stream of content from a distribution system that is to be recorded locally in memory at the client device. A stream of content is generated at the client device and the generated stream of content is recorded to fill the interruption in the stream of content from the distribution system in the memory of the client device.
