  • Patent number: 10129533
Abstract: A three dimensional (3D) stereoscopic image rendering system uses a lenticular lens sheet with a light diffusing multi-layer, which may include an adhesive layer, formed on the external surface of its lower base. The microstructural constitution of the light diffusing multi-layer suppresses moiré patterns typically affecting the 3D images. When longitudinally directed stray light rays are internally reflected from the interior surfaces of each lenticular lens in the sheet and impinge on the light diffusing multi-layer contacting the lower base, the stray light rays are scattered diffusely into various directions, thereby significantly reducing the intensity of the moiré pattern and its effect on the image. In addition, certain related problems, such as crosstalk between left and right directed images are also reduced. As a result, the viewer perceives a high quality, moiré free, stereoscopic 3D image.

  • Patent number: 10110883
Abstract: A device can determine a distance to an object. The device can use the determined distance to vary a focal length of a first adjustable element so that the first adjustable element directs light from the object into a first waveguide and onto a detector, and forms an image of the object at the detector. The device can produce an image, such as augmented content, on a panel. The device can direct light from the panel into a second waveguide. The device can use the determined distance to vary a focal length of a second adjustable element so that the second adjustable element directs light out of the second waveguide and forms a virtual image of the panel in a plane coincident with the object. The device can operate as an augmented reality headset. The adjustable elements can be phase modulators, or acoustically responsive material with surface acoustic wave transducers.

  • Patent number: 10097853
Abstract: High efficiency video coding (HEVC) enhancements are described for intrablock copying for reducing motion vector (MV) coding redundancy and enhancing in range extensions (RExt) by selecting a default block my predictor. In reducing MV data redundancy, the value of MVx and/or MVy can have a baseline at the width (W), or height (H) of the respective block, whereby fewer bits need to be encoded. One embodiment for enhancing RExt provides an improved selection of a default block vector predictor for the first CU performing intra-block copying in a CTU.

  • Patent number: 10095948
Abstract: This disclosure generally provides a fingerprint sensor that derives a fingerprint by measuring capacitive sensing signals while modulating a reference voltage rail used to power the fingerprint sensor. In one embodiment, the fingerprint sensor is integrated into an electronic device which may include other components such as a display, I/O devices, speakers, and the like. To power these components, the electronic device may include a DC power supply which outputs reference voltages. When transmitting the reference voltages to the fingerprint sensor, the electronic device may modulate the voltages using a modulating signal. Because the reference voltages are used to power the components in the fingerprint sensor, modulating the rail voltages also causes the components coupled to the reference voltages to also modulate. While this modulation occurs, the fingerprint sensor measures resulting signals using a plurality of sensor electrodes which are then processed to derive a fingerprint.

  • Patent number: 10075710
Abstract: A particular implementation receives a bitstream and derives parameters from the bitstream. The parameters include quantization parameters, content unpredictability parameters, ratios of lost blocks, ratios of propagated blocks, error concealment distances, motion vectors, durations of freezing, and frame rates. Using these parameters, a compression distortion factor, a slicing distortion factor, and a freezing distortion factor are estimated respectively for distortions resulting from video compression, a slicing mode error concealment, and a freezing slicing mode error concealment. The distortion factors are then mapped to a composite video quality score. For applications with limited computational power, the estimation of distortion factors can be simplified. In particular, the compression distortion factor, the slicing distortion factor, and the freezing distortion factor can be predicted from quantization parameters, ratios of lost blocks, and durations of freezing, respectively.

  • Patent number: 10055828
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for retrieving atmospheric aerosol based on statistical segmentation. Firstly a multi-band remote sensing image including an apparent reflectance and an aerosol optical thickness look-up table corresponding to a retrieval band is obtained, then pixels are partitioned and screened according to apparent reflectance segments of a mid-infrared 2.1 micrometer band. After that the retained pixel sets are further partitioned and screened according to the apparent reflectance segments of the mid-infrared 1.6 micrometer band. Finally the obtained pixel sets are partitioned into two categories according to the pixel number, one category including pixels having more pixels, the other including those with less pixels. The category with more pixels is taken as the reference part for retrieval.

  • Patent number: 10037335
Abstract: Methods and systems related to the detection of 3-D video content are disclosed herein. Specifically, a video image file may be analyzed in order to determine if it contains 3-D stereoscopic video content. An assumption is made regarding the possible 3-D format of the video image file. The assumption could be that the video frame includes a left portion and a right portion where each portion contains respective stereoscopic image perspectives. Image analysis algorithms could be used to determine if the left and right portions are sufficiently similar to confirm the assumption. If so, an indication could be carried out that could include a change to metadata or a similar change to associated video image file information. If the left and right portions of the video frame are not sufficiently similar, another analysis may be performed to test a different 3-D file format assumption.
