Abstract: The present invention provides a method, and an associated apparatus configured to implement such a method, for analysing mark-up language text content, such as might be found on a website or within online user generated content. The method comprises a training phase, in which plurality of schemas are automatically generated from a specified text and a final schema is compiled. This final schema can then be used to compare with other online text content such that content which matched the final schema can be identified, for example for further analysis and comparison.

Abstract: In various embodiments, methods and systems for providing access to file systems are provided. An SFA-based operation having an operation modifier for a file in a file system is received. The SFA-based operation is defined based on a file-representational state transfer (REST) interface. The SFA-REST interface comprises integrated functionality of an SFA protocol and REST protocol. The SFA-based operation is executed using the operation modifier. A REST-based operation for the file in the distributed file storage is received. The REST-based operation is defined based on the SFA-REST interface. The operation modifier is referenced in order to execute the REST-based operation. The REST-based operation based on the SFA-REST interface. A schema can be implemented for accessing the file system. The schema includes tables to store files, the table comprises fields corresponding to elements of a SFA-REST interface. A snapshot component can be implemented to backup file shares in the file system.

Abstract: A method executed by a computing device includes receiving a search criteria and location data from a user device in communication with the computing device, determining a user location based on the location data, and determining a geographical density of entities about the user location. The method optionally includes selecting one or more access mechanisms based on the search criteria and the geographical density. Each access mechanism, when executed by the user device, causes the user device to access a resource identified by the access mechanism. The method also optionally includes transmitting search results containing the one or more selected access mechanisms from the computing device to the user device.

Abstract: A method may include generating a personalized rating vector associated with a querying user. The personalized rating vector may relate personalized ratings to options. The personalized rating vector may be generated via element-wise multiplication of a user vector, a relevance weight, and a characteristics vector. The user vector may relate user ratings to the querying user and to the options. The relevance weight may be associated with a characteristic of the querying user. The characteristics vector may relate characteristics ratings to a user characteristic and to the options. The user characteristic may correspond at least in part to the characteristic of the querying user. Abstract: An information acquisition system includes: a mobile terminal; and an information search system. The information search system searches for information on a route based on route information input from the mobile terminal and transmits a search result to the mobile terminal, and the mobile terminal includes a navigation unit that navigates the route from a departure point to a destination. The information search system includes: a database in which information on the route is stored in correspondence with the route information; and an information search server that searches for the information on the route from the database based on the route information and acquires reservation information for transportation on the route based on the information on the route from a reservation system of the transportation, and the information search server transmits the reservation information to the mobile terminal together with the information on the route.

Abstract: A system and method can support resettable acknowledgements for synchronizing data between clusters in a distributed data grid. The system can use one or more unique identifiers (IDs) to support message passing between different clusters in the distributed data grid. A first cluster can receive a first replication message from a second cluster, wherein the replication message indicates that the replication message is from a new cluster. Then, the system can reset the first cluster to preserve idempotence in possessing one or more replication messages that are received from the second cluster, following the first replication message.

Abstract: Methods and systems for storing and managing large numbers of small files. A data processing system includes clients that generate large numbers be stored on a storage device managed by a File System (FS). An Archive Server (AS) receives multiple files from the client, archives the files in larger archives, and sends the archives to the FS for storage. When requested to read a file, the AS retrieves the archive in which the file is stored, extracts the file and sends it to the requesting client. In other words, the AS communicates with the clients in individual file units, and with the storage device in archive units. The AS is typically constructed as an add-on layer on top of a conventional FS, which enables the FS to handle small files efficiently without modification.

Abstract: An electronically stored financial document is either maintained in a first storage system when a parameter associated with the document is greater than a pre-selected parameter or in a second storage system when the parameter associated with the document is less than or equal to the pre-selected parameter. A request for a stored financial document is received and the requested financial document parameter is compared by the at least one electronic processor to the pre-selected financial document parameter to determine if the electronically stored financial document's parameter is more than, less than, or equal to the pre-selected parameter after the request is received. By using an interlinked interface, at least one electronic processor compares and electronically accesses one of the storage systems in response to the comparison of the pre-selected parameter to the electronically stored financial document's parameters.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, a database, containing entries, may be stored across first and second storage medium, entries in the second storage medium being default invisible for online transactional processing. A central software layer processor between the database and an application may identify a subset of the entries stored in the first storage medium as being default visible for online transactional processing, wherein entries stored in the first storage medium that are not within the subset are default invisible for online transactional processing. Note that entries in the first storage medium may be accessible by the application more quickly as compared to entries in the second storage medium.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing data. During operation, the system obtains a set of topics associated with a set of content items. Next, the system obtains a first set of attributes associated with a first topic in the set of topics and a second set of attributes associated with a second topic in the set of topics. Next, the system calculates a similarity between the first and second sets of attributes and applies a threshold to the similarity to identify the first and second topics as synonymous when the similarity exceeds a threshold. The system then merges the first and second topics under a representative topic. Finally, the system displays the representative topic to a user to improve understanding of the set of content items by the user without requiring the user to manually analyze the set of content items.

Abstract: Approaches, techniques, and mechanisms are disclosed for improved caching in database systems that deal with multiple data access patterns, such as in database systems that interface with both OLTP and Data Warehouse clients. A cache is deployed between a database server and a storage system that stores data units. Some of the data units accessed by the database server are buffered within the cache. The data units may be associated with data access patterns, such as a random data access pattern or a scan data access pattern, in accordance with which the database server is or appears to be accessing the data units. A processor selects when to cache data units accessed by the database server, based at least on the associated data access patterns. Recent access counts may also be stored for the data units, and may further be utilized to select when to cache data units.

Abstract: Methods and systems for discerning human intent based on user-generated metadata are provided. Communications from a plurality of social networks are evaluated to determine whether they are associated with contexts indicative of user intent. When a social network communication is determined to be associated with such a context, a tag may be generated associating the social network communication with the indicated human intent. In addition, information regarding the social network communication may be exported to an application responsible for responsive action.

A search prefix comprising one or more characters associated with an unexecuted search query is received. One or more intent suggestions are suggested to a user. For each of the one or more intent suggestions, one or more entity identifications associated with each of the one or more intent suggestions are received. Metadata corresponding to at least one entity associated with the one or more entity identifications is retrieved from an entity data store. Without retrieving search results for the unexecuted search query, an aggregated intent preview based on the retrieved metadata corresponding to the at least one entity is provided.

Code corresponding to the at least one database query can be generated. One or more optimizations to the generated code can be performed to produce specialized modular code. The one or more optimizations can include Just-In-Time (JIT) compilation techniques. Respective portions of the code can be distributed to a plurality of distributed computing systems for execution, wherein each of the distributed computing systems is connected to a portion of the plurality of distributed computing systems. Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to manage process control search results are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes receiving a search parameter from a user via an application to view search results associated with the search parameter, determining a display context based on the application, searching a search index for control parameters that match the search parameter to form a set of matched control parameters, wherein the search index includes control parameters that correspond to runtime data generated by a controller within a process control system, and rendering the set of matched control parameters for display via the application as the search results based on the determined display context.
