  • Patent number: 6425268
Abstract: A body piercing jewelry substitute 10 includes a body 20 having an internal cavity 30. A rim 22 frames the opening 23 to the internal cavity. The rim is positioned on a damp body surface, such as moistened skin or the user's tongue. By creating an area 500 of reduced pressure around the body 20, air is removed from the internal cavity 30, lowering the pressure within the body 20. Where the body piercing jewelry substitute is applied to the tongue, the area of reduced pressure may be created by sucking orally. Where the body piercing jewelry substitute is located on the cheek for example, the reduced pressure may be created by use of a suction cup. When pressure is restored to normal levels around the body, the rim adheres to the damp body surface due to the partial vacuum within the internal cavity. The body piercing jewelry substitute may then moved to a different location by sliding it on the damp body surface.

  • Patent number: 6422036
Abstract: The present invention concerns a jewelry clasp, for use with necklaces, bracelets and other chain jewelry. The clasp comprises a receptacle, having two parts with a plurality of anchors attached to the inside surfaces of the receptacle. The receptacle may be opened to allow the attachment of chains within the box and then closed and locked to secure the chains. The anchors allow the holding of the ends of a number of pieces of chain jewelry by the clasp. The ends of various pieces of chain jewelry may be attached to any number of the anchors to form new configurations of jewelry. The receptacle may be made to appear decorative so that, if desired, the clasp may be large to facilitate its use and to allow for any number of chain anchors so that the user may attach any number of jewelry chains in a decorative manner.

  • Gem
    Patent number: 6422039
Abstract: A gemstone has a faceted crown which is inclined with respect to the main axis and which is defined on the one end by a preferably flat table and on the other hand by a peripheral edge of the gemstone. A faceted pavilion is inclined with respect to the main axis, adjoins the peripheral edge, and converges to a tip. The facets (3) of the crown (2) are all inclined at the same crown angle (&bgr;) with respect to the main axis (1), while the facets (7, 7′) of the pavilion (6) are inclined at two different pavilion angles (&agr;1, &agr;2) with respect to the main axis (1). The first set of facets (7) of the pavilion (6) which are inclined at a first pavilion angle (&agr;1) extend to the peripheral edge (5), and the second set of facets (7′) of the pavilion (6) which are inclined at a second pavilion angle (&agr;2) start from the tip (8) without reaching the peripheral edge (5).

  • Patent number: 6408646
Abstract: An earring to improve facial appearance is provided. The earring includes a main body which is hingedly affixed to an elongated post element. The post element has a unique structure and is designed to be received through a pair of holes which are made in and through the outer ear. A first hole is located on the region of the outer ear above the earlobe proximal the temporal bone on the pinnae or auricle of the ear and a second hole which is located on the earlobe proper. The earlobe is bent back behind the ear, aligning the first hole with the second hole. The post element would pass through both holes, pinning the earlobe behind the pinnae below the auditory canal. By placing a back or a securing means to the post extending through the folded ear configuration the earring is secured to the ear about the folded earlobe. By this method of attachment of the earring, wrinkles, loose skin, and the like on the face are smoothed out by the pulling action caused by the placement of the earrings.

  • Patent number: 6405562
Abstract: The cut gem, in particular the diamond, has a predetermined number of cut facets in the crown (10) and in the pavilion about a central axis of geometric symmetry. The facets (25 to 27) are disposed about said axis of symmetry in a hexagonal arrangement. This geometric axis of symmetry preferably corresponds to one of the ternary crystallographic axes of the diamond. The girdle (12) separating the crown from the pavilion has a contour (20) of lobed shape with six rounded projecting portions and six rounded hollow portions (21, 22). The gem thus cut permits obtaining the original optical effects of brilliance and dispersion of light.

  • Patent number: 6401488
Abstract: Jewelry items such as rings, bracelets and necklaces are made of pop beads of novel construction. The structure includes a spherical body from which extends in a radial direction an elongate, flexible neck having a ball formed on its distal free end. The neck is sufficiently long to enable it to be formed into a loop so that it can be press fit into a socket formed on the opposite side of the same spherical body, and the neck is adapted to receive a plurality of strung beads to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the item. In a second embodiment, the neck is not long enough to enable it to be formed into a loop, but is sufficiently long to receive at least one strung bead so that bracelets and similar items are made by connecting a plurality of the pop beads together with strung beads being positioned between the respective spherical bodies of the pop beads. Additional embodiments include pop beads that depend from barrettes, eyeglass holders, lanyard hooks, and similar articles.

  • Patent number: 6389846
Abstract: A unitary prong setting for multiple gemstones and a multiple gemstone combination are provided. The setting includes a first set of prongs, each of which contacts and is adapted to fold over ends of two adjacent gemstones. The first set of prongs press the gemstones together and thereby securing the gemstones to the setting. Each of the first set of prongs is interconnected by a set of respective bars connecting each of the first prongs to a point substantially central to the first prongs; the first set of prongs presses the gemstones together and against the set of bars. The invention preferably further includes a second set of prongs projecting from the main base. The second set of prongs are adapted not to fold over the gemstones. The secondary prongs may provide ancillary support to the gemstones from underneath, or they may merely be decorative.

  • Patent number: 6381984
Abstract: A rechargeable article of jewelry dispenses perfumed vapors and has a chamber formed from housing members. The housing members are made of a material which contains the perfumed vapors in the chamber and allows for releasing them into the atmosphere. A nugget of unglazed ceramic material is provided in the chamber and is of a size less than the chamber so that it is free to move inside the chamber and allow air to pass around the nugget. The chamber has apertures therein through which an aromatic liquid, such as perfume, can be deposited on and absorbed by the nugget. The apertures also allow air to circulate around the nugget and generate perfumed vapors which may exit the chamber through the apertures. The nugget is larger than any of the apertures so the nugget is retained in the chamber. A method of making scented jewelry is also provided.
