  • Patent number: 12205370
Abstract: Systems and methods for computer-implemented pre-optimization of input data before further processing thereof by a computer-implemented analyzation process, such as optical character recognition (OCR). A cooperative model is employed that combines one or more supervised-learning based inspector sub-models, and one or more filter sub-models that operating in series with the inspector sub-model(s). The inspectors first receive the input data and calculate one predicted transformation parameters then used to perform transformations on the input data. The inspector-transformed data is then passed to the filters, which derive respective convolution kernels and apply same to the inspector-transformed data before passing same to the OCR or other analyzation process. The inspectors may be pretrained with different training data.

  • Patent number: 12190533
Abstract: Image security is becoming an increasingly important issue with the progress of deep learning based image manipulations, such as deep image inpainting and deep fakes. There has been considerable work to date on detecting such image manipulations using better and better algorithms, with little attention being paid to the possible role hardware advances may have for more powerful algorithms. This disclosure proposes to use a focal stack camera as a novel secure imaging device for localizing inpainted regions in manipulated images. Applying convolutional neural network (CNN) methods to focal stack images achieves significantly better detection accuracy compared to single image based detection.

  • Patent number: 12165397
Abstract: The present disclosure provides is a high-speed image recognition method and apparatus using a 3D CNN. The high-speed image recognition method using the 3D CNN includes: inputting each of a first image clips among image clips constituting an input image to the 3D CNN; acquiring softmax function values calculated in the 3D CNN with respect to each of the first image clips; calculating a score margin by using the softmax function values; comparing the score margin with a predetermined threshold value to determine whether to input at least one additional image clip other than the first image clips among the image clips constituting the input image to the 3D CNN. Therefore, a calculation speed for image recognition can be improved.

  • Patent number: 12159370
Abstract: A method and a system for processing an image and transform it into a high resolution and high-definition image using a computationally efficient image transformation procedure is provided. The transformation of the image comprises transforming a received intensity image into a layered distance field (DF) image including an ordered sequence of multiple layers. Each layer of the layered DF image includes a DF procedure defining DF values at all locations of the received intensity image and rules for mapping these DF values into intensity values of the layer. The intensity image is transformed iteratively until an error between the received intensity image and an intensity image reconstructed from the layered DF image by combining the intensities values of each level in their corresponding order is less than a threshold error value.

  • Patent number: 12100197
Abstract: A method for training a machine learning system. The method includes generating an augmented dataset including input images for training the machine learning system, which is for classification and/or semantic segmentation of input images, using a first machine learning system, which is embodied as a decoder of an autoencoder, and a second machine learning system, which is embodied as an encoder of the autoencoder. Latent variables are ascertained from the input images using the encoder. The input images are classified as a function of ascertained feature characteristics of their image data. An augmented input image of the augmented dataset is ascertained from at least one of the input images as a function of average values of the ascertained latent variables in at least two of the classes. The image classes are selected so that the input images classified therein agree in their characteristics in a predefinable set of other features.
