  • Patent number: 9736832
Abstract: A wireless communications system is presented that adapts its mode of operation between spatial and non-spatial multiplexing in response to transmission-specific variables. Mode determination logic determines, in response to a received signal, if spatial or non-spatial multiplexing should be used to transmit a subscriber datastream between the BTS and the UE. The mode determination logic receives a measure of a transmission characteristic of the signal, compares the transmission characteristic to a transmission characteristic threshold and selects either spatial or non-spatial multiplexing in response to the comparison. The transmission characteristic includes at least one of delay spread, post-processing signal-to-noise ratio, CRC failure, residual inter-symbol interference, mean square error, coherence time, and path loss.

  • Patent number: 9729442
Abstract: A method of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) switching. A packet of a flow is received onto a SDN switch via a NFX circuit. The NFX circuit determines that the packet matches a flow entry stored in any flow table in the NFX circuit, counts the number of packets of the flow received, and determines that the number of packets of the flow received is above a threshold value. The NFX circuit then forwards the packet to a NFP circuit in the SDN switch. The NFP circuit determines that the packet matches a flow entry stored in the flow table in the NFX and generates a new flow entry that applies to a relatively narrow subflow of packets that is forwarded to and stored the flow table in the NFX circuit. A subsequent packet of the flow is switched by the SDN switch without forwarding the packet to the NFP.

  • Patent number: 9716652
Abstract: A method for handling, by a ring node of a network having a ring topology, a data transfer of data packets through the network via which the data packets are transmitted to their destination node, wherein each ring node has two neighboring ring nodes. The method includes detecting data packets of an incoming data transfer received from a non ring node to be transmitted through the network to their destination node. Furthermore, a ring direction is added to the data packets of the incoming data transfer, the indication indicating in which direction the data packets of the incoming data transfer are passed through the network having the ring topology. The data packets of the incoming data transfer are forwarded to one of the two neighboring ring nodes based on the added indication.

  • Patent number: 9705846
Abstract: One or more processors are configured to associate a first local IP address with a computer while the computer is connected to a first network access node thereby providing the computer with access to a network. The first local IP address is one of a plurality of local IP addresses used on the network. The one or more processors monitor transmissions received from the first network access node to determine when the computer requests an Internet transaction. When the computer requests an Internet transaction, a first one of the globally unique IP addresses is associated with the first local IP address thereby allowing the computer to conduct the Internet transaction. The first globally unique IP address is disassociated from the first local IP address after termination of the Internet transaction and is then available for association with any of the local IP addresses used on the network.
