  • Patent number: 6064431
Abstract: This invention provides an element having a skimming charge transfer function in an X-Y address type photoelectric conversion device using, e.g., a CMOS sensor, and a photoelectric conversion device, which accumulates photoelectric signal charges produced by a photoelectric conversion element in a control electrode (gate) of a MOS transistor so as to obtain a signal with a high S/N ratio by removing signal components produced by background radiation without using any CCD as an accumulation means of skimming charges, has a skimming electrode for transferring skimming charges of those produced by the photoelectric conversion element, an n.sup.+ -type region for accumulating the transferred skimming charges, a MOS transistor for reading out potential changes caused by the skimming charges, and a circuit for automatically controlling the amount of skimming charges to be transferred.

  • Patent number: 6008845
Abstract: An electronic digital still camera apparatus has a converter lens which is used in a wide angle imaging mode and which is rotatably moved so as to achieve a compact camera apparatus. The electronic digital still camera apparatus has a master lens for focusing an image of a photographing object onto an imaging plane thereof; a converter lens rotatably moved between a position on an optical path defined from the photographing object to the master lens, and another position outside the optical path defined from the photographing object to the master lens; and a reflection mirror arranged at a position substantially equal to a rotation center of the converter lens, for reflecting light derived from the photographing object toward the master lens.

  • Patent number: 5990948
Abstract: The elimination of noise can be positively achieved by a simpler arrangement. For this reason, a capacitor holds a difference between a level at a first time point of an input signal and a reference potential of a given level. A capacitor holds a difference between a level at a second time point of the input signal and a threshold value of an inverter serving as a comparator. The first and second capacitors are switched to a series-connected state. With a combined voltage of holding voltages on the first and second capacitors as an input-side voltage to the inverter, a reference voltage Vref varies as a bias through the input-side voltage. When the output of the inverter is inverted during a portion of a time in which the reference voltage varies, a controller enables the holding of a measurement value corresponding to the reference voltage, the measurement value being used as a variation corresponding to the input signal.

  • Patent number: 5986700
Abstract: A device for controlling a recording operation of a still video camera includes a plurality of slot units, with a recording medium mounted in each of the plurality of slot units. A power supply circuit applies a voltage to the plurality of slot units to record an image signal to the recording medium through the plurality of slot units. A mechanism detects a remaining capacity of a recording medium to which an image signal is being recorded by one of the plurality of slot units. A control circuit controls the power supply circuit in such a manner than, when the remaining capacity reaches a predetermined amount while an image signal is being recorded through one of the plurality of slot units, a voltage is applied to another slot unit through which said image signal is not being recorded.

  • Patent number: 5978016
Abstract: A convenient and practical apparatus for transporting digital images for display is achieved by incorporating an internally fixed base camera memory into an electronic or hybrid camera. Specifically, a camera includes a digital imaging system (16, 70) for generating a first digital image of first resolution in response to an exposure signal, a first storage memory (124) for receiving and storing the first digital image generated by the digital imaging system, a fixed memory or a removable memory interface connector (130) for receiving a removable memory device, and a processor (120) for controlling the transfer of the first digital image from the first storage memory to the fixed memory or removable memory interface connector for subsequent storage in a removable memory device, when a removable memory device is coupled to the removable memory interface connector.

  • Patent number: 5943091
Abstract: This camera comprises an electron tube with a photosensitive target (6) made of single-crystalline semiconducting material, lens (10) for forming the image of a scene on the target, an electron gun (14) to supply an electron beam to read the target, and scanning and focusing portion (18) designed to force the target to be scanned by this electron beam and to focus this electron beam on the target. The target then outputs a signal representative of this image. The camera also includes an electronic processing circuit (20) for controlling the electron gun and scanning and focusing of the camera and receiving and storing circuits (22) for receiving and storing the signal. Application to the analysis of very fast movements.

  • Patent number: 5896171
Abstract: A video signal processing apparatus of the invention has an image pickup unit for picking up an image of an object and generating a video signal corresponding to the picked-up object image, a signal processing unit for executing various kinds of signal processes to the video signal which is generated from the image pickup unit, and a cable for electrically connecting the image pickup unit and the signal processing unit. In order to transmit and receive a data signal between the image pickup unit and the signal processing unit through the cable, for a predetermined period of time of the video signal which is transmitted from the image pickup unit to the signal processing unit through the cable, a plurality of kinds of video signals of different DC potentials are switched and outputted in accordance with the data signal, thereby multiplexing the data signal to the video signal.
