  • Patent number: 10631321
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) receives downlink data using resource blocks in a wireless mobile communication system. The UE receives downlink control information including resource allocation information and downlink data mapped to physical resource blocks (PRBs) based on the downlink control information. The resource allocation information indicates virtual resource block (VRB) allocations for the UE. A resource block pair includes a first resource block associated with a first time slot and a second resource block associated with a second time slot adjacent to the first time slot. The first and second resource blocks are allocated to the same frequency indices. A mapping between VRB pairs and PRB pairs exists such that frequency consecutive VRB pairs are mapped to non-frequency consecutive PRB pairs and that each resource block pair is split so there is a frequency gap between the first and second parts of the resource block pair.

  • Patent number: 10631298
Abstract: A data transmission method is provided. The method comprises: reserving a first channel and a second channel, where the first channel is used for transmitting data and the second channel is used for transmitting ACKs; sending data to a receiving end on the first channel that is reserved; receiving an ACK that is sent by the receiving end and corresponds to the data on the second channel that is reserved and determining whether the data needs to be cached based on information carried in the ACK; and if the information carried in the ACK indicates that the receiving end has correctly received the data, clearing the data that is cached by a sending end. Through separate transmission of the data and the ACK, an efficiency problem of the sending end in providing MAC in a wireless system in a condition of a limited cache capacity is resolved.

  • Patent number: 10623230
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a system that compresses and transmits packets. During operation, the system obtains packets-to-be-compressed at a compressor located at a transmitter that transmits packets through a channel over a network link to a decompressor located at a receiver. The system also obtains cross-layer information regarding the network link from lower-layer network entities in the transmitter. Next, the system uses the cross-layer information to generate estimations for a state of the channel and a state of the decompressor. The system then determines a compression level for the packets-to-be-compressed based on a compression policy and the estimations for the state of the channel and the state of the decompressor. The system subsequently generates packets-to-be-transmitted by compressing headers of the packets-to-be-compressed, wherein the headers are compressed at different levels based on the determined compression level.

  • Patent number: 10624018
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for selecting relay nodes for Single-User Multiple-Input-Multiple Output (SU-MIMO). A channel orthogonality and Signal-to-Interference-Plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) of a plurality of wireless devices located in a geographic area of an access node is determined. A relay-capable status of the plurality of wireless devices is determined. Non-relay capable wireless devices located in the geographic area are excluded from SU-MIMO. From the plurality of wireless devices, relay-capable wireless devices are selected for SU-MIMO. The selected relay-capable wireless devices are prioritized for SU-MIMO based on a channel orthogonality and SINR meeting a set threshold.

  • Patent number: 10582402
Abstract: A method determines a mobile communications network quality for downloading mobile communications data. Data which quantify the mobile communications network quality in a current location of a respective motor vehicle, is continually acquired using acquisition units provided in the motor vehicle. This data is transferred to a database in which it is stored. A route of a select motor vehicle is determined. A data record quantifying the mobile communications network quality along the route, is retrieved from the database. Mobile communications data is downloaded to a memory of the select motor vehicle taking the data record into consideration. A total data record quantifying the mobile communications network quality is determined at predetermined intervals by a data processing device, taking into consideration the data transferred to the database, and the data record quantifying the mobile communications network for the select motor vehicle is obtained from this total data record.

  • Patent number: 10582392
Abstract: Reallocation of a capacity boost cell between first and second operators in a cellular radio communications network is carried out by detecting a drop in load for the first operator, in the area of coverage of the capacity boost cell, below a first threshold, and reallocating automatically the capacity boost cell to the second operator in response to the detected drop in load, if the first operator has authorised a reallocation. The capacity boost cell can be reallocated automatically back to the first operator in response to detecting a subsequent increase in load above a second threshold for the first operator. This can improve utilisation of the capacity boost cell during low load periods while still having it available for the first operator for high load periods, and can provide access to additional capacity for the second operator without need for costly additional infrastructure.

  • Patent number: 10574417
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described for wireless communications in which various association schemes may be performed for a machine type communication (MTC) device. In a long-term evolution (LTE) heterogeneous network, the MTC device may associate with a macro cell or a small cell using a narrowband MTC channel supported by the cells. Information about the MTC channel, including its frequency spectrum, may be transmitted to the MTC device using reserved bits in a physical broadcast channel (PBCH). Once the MTC device identifies the MTC channel, it may communicate with one or more cells during a frame or during a sub-frame. The MTC device may determine channel metrics of the cells from the MTC communication and may identify a cell with which to associate from the channel metrics. The association may be to a best downlink cell or a best uplink cell based on the operating profile of the MTC device.
