Abstract: At a predetermined location on a touch panel, a document image in a portrait direction, or a document image in a landscape direction is displayed according to a direction of the scanned document, while displaying a corresponding forwarding image in parallel, on the same screen. Since the direction of the scanning document and the direction of the document at the destination are displayed, it is possible to easily confirm how the scanning image is forwarded to the destination, thereby preventing an error of forwarding the document with the wrong direction.
Abstract: A portable, compact electronic device is disclosed which is adapted for communication with a personal digital assistant. The electronic device includes a housing having an opening adapted for receiving a medium adapted for printing or scanning and at least one coiled structure formed from a coilable material. At least one guide positions the coilable material as it is extended from the coiled structure. The printing or scanning medium is moved through an opening in the housing by rotating elements. An activation means is utilized to perform printing or scanning of the medium, under the controlled extension and retraction of the coilable material from the coiled structure.

Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide an image processing apparatus that greatly enhances color conversion precision by considering in-plane uniformity and nonlinearity such as a gradation characteristic and a multiple transfer characteristic in an image formation device when color variation in a plane of the image formation device is considered in color conversion. An arithmetic section converts a signal L* to an image recording signal K of the image formation device based upon a lightness L* signal input from an image input device, a recorded position coordinate signal x in a horizontal scanning direction on paper and the rotation angle signal y of a photo conductor showing a recorded position coordinate in a vertical scanning direction on the photo conductor from the image formation device in consideration of color variation caused due to an image formation process on the photo conductor in the image formation device and the signal L*.
Abstract: An intelligent on-line form printing system for combining various forms with various information items and outputting the combination result without an additional printed form and a method therefor are provided. The intelligent on-line form printing system, includes a host computer for controlling the preparation and edition of a form, a user terminal connected to the host computer by wire and by radio, the user terminal for preparing a form and inputting input information, and a printing device connected to the host computer by wire and by radio, the printing apparatus for printing the form. The host computer has a combiner for preparing the form, a converter for converting the combined printing information into a protocol suitable for a printing apparatus, and a printing manager for managing the printing information of the combiner according to a predetermined program and making the printing information statistical data using a printing result.

Abstract: In printing a plurality of pages of print data on one paper sheet upon combining the pages, a print control apparatus inputs layout data for determining a layout of the respective pages, extracts a page data portion to be printed as a single page from the print data in accordance with the input layout data, holds the page data portion, and outputs print data generated from the held page data. In this apparatus, when paper sheets are folded to form printed matter with an appearance of a book, a plurality of print page data can be printed in each print area. The apparatus includes a designation unit for making designation with respect to layout data to combine and lay out a plurality of print data pages on one page of bound paper sheets on which printing is performed, and a generating unit for generating print data print data having a plurality of page data laid out on one page of the bound paper sheets in accordance with the layout data.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for controlling consumable use in an image-rendering device. More particularly, the invention relates to a image-rendering device that facilitates the limitation of page costs of color documents by establishing a threshold cost limitation and controlling one or more colorant amounts to be used on the page to ensure that the cost limitation is met. An optional override mode may be provided, wherein a selected page or pages, or a complete document, would be rendered without implementation of the cost reduction feature.
