Abstract: This invention relates to methods for correlating at least one media path and a signaling session of a packet-switched network and to an implementation of these methods in hardware and software. To overcoming one or more of the limitations and challenges on the correlation of signaling plane and media plane of services, the invention defines a key, which can be used for correlation of media streams and signaling sessions. The invention is based on a signaling probe identifying new services and associated media paths of the media plane by detecting their corresponding signaling sessions and determining for each service a signaling session identifier. The signaling probe registers the signaling sessions and their media paths at a correlation unit using the signaling session identifiers as a key, which allows a media probe to query the correlation unit for respective signaling session identifiers that correspond to media paths detected in the media plane traffic.

  • Patent number: 9143085
Abstract: A dual frequency synthesizer architecture for a wireless device operating in a time division duplex (TDD) mode is disclosed. In an exemplary design, the wireless device includes first and second frequency synthesizers. The first frequency synthesizer generates a first oscillator signal used to generate a first/receive local oscillator (LO) signal at an LO frequency for the receiver. The second frequency synthesizer generates a second oscillator signal used to generate a second/transmit LO signal at the same LO frequency for the transmitter. The two frequency synthesizers generate their oscillator signals to obtain receive and transmit LO signals at the same LO frequency when the wireless device operates in the TDD mode.

  • Patent number: 9088515
Abstract: An aspect includes dynamically adapting a maximum transmission unit (MTU) size in a computer network. A packet is received at a first link of a switch of the computer network. An MTU size of the received packet is determined based on an application programming interface (API) crossing value associated with the first link of the switch. An associated destination MTU size of a second link of the switch is determined as a target destination of the received packet. The associated destination MTU size of the second link is adjusted based on a difference between the MTU size of the received packet and the associated destination MTU size of the second link.

  • Patent number: 9077666
Abstract: Processing a plurality of packets through at least one service, a privilege granter monitors at least two authentication packets to obtain a source unique network identifier, one of which does not have a vendor specific attribute and detects an authentication packet among the at least two authentication packets, and the authentication packet having the vendor specific attribute. The privilege granter receives at least one response authentication packet having at least one service definition identifier, the service definition identifier corresponding to the source unique network identifier, responsive to detecting the authentication packet having the vendor specific attribute and builds an entitlement database to pair the source unique network identifier to the service definition identifier. The privilege granter receives a session packet and determines that the source unique network identifier corresponds to a user entitlement in the entitlement database.

  • Patent number: 9055472
Abstract: In a distributed antenna system (DAS) and a local area network (LAN), a common communication infrastructure distributes data from radio-based and Internet-based sources. A radio equipment (RE) of the DAS interfaces to a LAN segment. For the downlink, a gateway maps radio signal data from a radio equipment controller (REC) and data packets from a switch to mixed-data frames using a radio data interface protocol for transmission in the DAS. At the RE, the signal data and data packets are retrieved from the mixed-data frames and provided to the air interface and LAN segment, respectively. For the uplink from the RE, the radio signal data from the air interface and the data packets from the LAN segment are mapped to mixed-data frames and transmitted to the gateway. The gateway retrieves the signal samples and data packets from the mixed-data frames for transfer to the REC and switch, respectively.

  • Patent number: 9025572
Abstract: A mobile communication device for access procedure enhancement is provided. In the mobile communication device, a wireless module performs wireless transmissions and receptions to and from a service network. Also, a controller module transmits an access probe to the service network via the wireless module, and retransmits the access probe in response to not receiving an acknowledgement of the access probe from the service network via the wireless module in a waiting period of time. The waiting period of time is determined according to a coherence-time related offset. The controller module further repeats the retransmission of the access probe until the acknowledgement of the access probe is received from the service network via the wireless module.

  • Patent number: 9015318
Abstract: A method is provided in one example and includes receiving a first packet associated with a domain name system (DNS) exchange between a subscriber and a DNS server. A correlation is maintained between a domain name and an Internet protocol (IP) address included in a DNS response. A subsequent packet associated with a subsequent flow is received and the IP address is identified within the subsequent packet. The method further includes executing a policy decision for the subsequent flow based on the correlation between the IP address and the domain name. In more specific embodiments, the correlation is stored in a table that includes a time to live (TTL) parameter associated with the IP address. The IP address within the subsequent packet can be mapped to the domain name in order to apply the policy decision for the subsequent flow.
