  • Patent number: 10843774
Abstract: The invention relates to a movable fin assembly, which includes a housing attachable to an underside of a watercraft and a rotation and pivoting mechanism. The mechanism positioned inside the housing and movable about two axes of rotation. The mechanism further has a fin locating position, thereby a fin provided at the fin locating position is capable of moving about the two axes of rotation via the mechanism, such that the fin's toe angle and camber angle changes when moving through the water. The invention further extends to an interchangeable self-aligning fin and static fin kit which includes a rotation and pivoting mechanism and a static member shaped and dimensioned to correspond with an interior of the housing. The static member and the rotation and pivoting mechanism interchangeably receivable by the housing in order to selectively provide a dynamic or static fin on the underside of the watercraft.

  • Patent number: 10829184
Abstract: A mooring line (10) comprising a metal chain (24) and an elastomeric element (28) which is attached between two points of attachment (30, 32) thereby defining a bypass section (34) of metal chain (24). The elastomeric element (28) is arranged such that when an initial tensile load is applied, the elastomeric element (28) stretches from an initial length to a longer length wherein the bypass section (34) is not taut and thus the initial tensile load is transmitted from and to further sections (24) of the metal chain through the elastomeric element (28). When a further tensile load is applied, the elastomeric element (28) stretches to a length wherein the bypass section (34) becomes taut, and thus the further tensile load is transmitted directly from and to the further sections (24) of the metal chain through the bypass section (34).

  • Patent number: 10822061
Abstract: Systems and methods for righting a capsized watercraft are described. The system may include a selectively inflatable bladder inside a canvas gunwale float that can be releasably attached to one side of a boat. When the other side of the boat is lifted, the float keeps at least a portion of the lowermost gunwale above the surface of the water, thereby impeding the unwanted entry of water into the boat during righting. The inflatable bladder is sized in volume according to the size and shape of the boat. The system may include one or more floats spaced apart along the side. In another aspect, one of the floats may be attached to a paddle to create a temporary outrigger for use in climbing out of the water and into the boat.

  • Patent number: 10814953
Abstract: The arrangement includes at least one steering electric motor rotating the propulsion unit via a force transmission arrangement. The force transmission arrangement includes a differential including a first shaft connected to the steering electric motor, a second shaft connected to the propulsion unit, and a third shaft connected to a brake device. The third shaft is locked from rotation when a torque produced by an external force on the propulsion unit is below a threshold value, whereby power is distributed only from the steering electric motor to the propulsion unit or vice a versa. The third shaft is allowed to start rotating when the torque produced by the external force on the propulsion unit exceeds the threshold value, whereby power is distributed from the steering electric motor to the rotation of the propulsion unit and to the brake device or from the rotation of the propulsion unit to the steering electric motor and to the brake device.
