  • Patent number: 5154531
Abstract: A corner connector (10) for connecting adjacent first and second spacer sections (20, 22), to form an insulated panel spacer frame includes a first arm (12) joined by a flexible joint (15) to a second arm (14). The second arm includes a recess (44) adjacent the joint, and a deformable projection (46) projecting from an edge of the open face of the recess inwardly toward the bottom of the recess. The first arm includes a securement projection (38) protruding from adjacent the joint (15) that is receivable within the recess of the second arm alongside the deformable projection. • Patent number: 5152631
Abstract: The invention is directed to a positive-engaging coupling between a drive part and a driven part. The positive-engaging coupling includes an insert portion defining a first noncircular cross section and formed on the driven part. The drive part defines a receptacle for accommodating the insert portion therein and the receptacle has a second noncircular cross section corresponding to the first noncircular cross section. The insert portion and the receptacle conjointly define an intermediate space when the insert portion is inserted into the receptacle. An elastic insert is inserted into the receptacle for filling out the intermediate space when the insert portion of the driven part is disposed in the receptacle. If an overload occurs, the elastic insert is destroyed and the insert portion rotates freely within the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5149220
Abstract: A frictional resistance coupling comprises an outer part and an inner part, which are connected to each other in a pressure-tight manner and between them form an inner chamber with a conical surface and a likewise conical, axially displaceable annular piston. The annular piston is moved axially due to the supply of pressure medium, for producing a radial tension and frictional resistance between two parts, e.g., a coupling and a shaft. Serving for determining the axial position of the enclosed annular piston is an axially disposed transmitter cylinder, which is connected to a receiver cylinder in the region of the outer surface of the coupling, by way of an incompressible medium. The piston of the receiver cylinder supports an indicator, whereof the position is monitored by an external sensor.

  • Patent number: 5149222
Abstract: A rolling flexure bearing. The bearing is formed of a thin sheet of elastic material that is attached to a surface of a first object. The sheet extends a short distance along the surface of the first object. The sheet then makes a 180 degree elastic bend off the surface of the first object to reverse the direction of the sheet. After making the bend, the sheet then extends a short distance along the surface of the second object substantially parallel to the surface of the first object. The sheet is attached at its end to the surface of the second object. In this configuration, the flexure bearing is stiff along an axis parallel to the bend axis to constrain movement along this axis. The flexure bearing, along the axis normal to the surfaces of the objects, has a high compliance rate to provide damping between the objects. Along the third orthogonal axis, normal to the bend axis, the bearing allows free relative movement between the two objects, until it approaches either of the two attachment areas.
