  • Patent number: 10789199
Abstract: Distributed computing systems, devices, and associated methods of packet routing are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a computing device includes a field programmable gate array (“FPGA”) that includes an inbound processing path and outbound processing path in opposite processing directions. The inbound processing path can forward a packet received from the computer network to a buffer on the FPGA instead of the NIC. The outbound processing path includes an outbound multiplexer having a rate limiter circuit that only forwards the received packet from the buffer back to the computer network when a virtual port corresponding to the packet has sufficient transmission allowance. The outbound multiplexer can also periodically increment the transmission allowance based on a target bandwidth for the virtual port.

  • Patent number: 10728148
Abstract: The construction method of NALU (Network Abstraction Layer Unit) for IPv6 label switching and its using algorithms of video encoding, QoS control, and decoding are provided. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the NALU format is composed of the NALH (Network Abstraction Layer Header) including the label and the NAL (Network Ab straction Layer) payload. Here, the label is determined based on layer information which is combination of a spatial scalable level, a temporal scalable level, and a quality scalable level of the encoded data. The decoder uses the label to decide which one of multiple decoding modules is used to decode the current NAL payload. Moreover, the label can be included in the packet header so that the MANE (Media Aware Network Element) can use the label to decide whether to forward the packet or drop it. For example, the label in the packet header can be used for QoS control of video service by using the flow label field in IPv6 packet header.

  • Patent number: 10694534
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, devices, apparatus, and computer program products for transferring data through a bonded communication link. A bonded communication link bonds together capabilities from each of a plurality of other communication links to form a higher bandwidth communication link relative to each of the plurality of other communication links considered separately. Link qualities can be monitored for each of the plurality of other communication links. Different priorities can be assigned to different types of data. Based on monitored link qualities and assigned data priorities, different data types can be routed via different of the other communication links. Routing different data types via different of the other communication links facilitates selective transmission of higher priority data when quality degrades on a communication link.
