Patent number: 8868383Abstract: There is provided a consumption energy calculating device which simulates power consumption of a heating and cooling appliance operated by a customer living in a house. A first receiver and a second receiver receive a demand response signal and an external environmental factor parameter. A pain level model shows a relationship between an indoor air temperature and a pain level. A first calculator calculates, when the appliance is not in operation, the indoor air temperature of a next sample time. A second calculator calculates, when the appliance is in operation, determines the indoor air temperature of the next sample time. A working sequence generator determines whether the appliance is or not to be operated during the next sample time. The power consumption determination unit determines power consumption consumed by the appliance before the next sample time and outputs data showing the power consumption.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2011Date of Patent: October 21, 2014Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Kazuto Kubota, Shuichiro Imahara

Patent number: 8868395Abstract: In a fast simulation technique, the output node of a power supply module of the integrated circuit can be designated as an ideal power node. At this point, the power supply module can be designated a fan-in block and any blocks connected to the power node can be designated fan-out blocks. Then, DC initialization and transient simulation for each time step can be performed for the circuit. During the transient simulation, any inter-relationship of the fan-out blocks can be determined and a sensitivity model can be calculated for each fan-out block. Because the power node is designated as an ideal power node, the results of the sensitivity model for each fan-out block can be added asynchronously to a total loadings of the power node. The total loadings can be loaded into a matrix, which is computed for the fan-in block, and a simulation waveform point can be output.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2008Date of Patent: October 21, 2014Assignee: Synopsys, Inc.Inventors: He Dong, Michael Z. Patent number: 8862453Abstract: Methods for generating waveforms with realistic transitions, controllable timing jitter, and controllable amplitude noise in a computer-based simulation environment are disclosed. A first method includes obtaining signal information for one or more parallel data signals. In one embodiment, signal information for the one or more parallel data signals is mapped from an HDL format to a new time scale, and during this operation, timing jitter is added independently to the parallel data signals. These jittery parallel data signals may then be returned to the original HDL format, or another format, for simulation. In another embodiment, rather than mapping to a single time vector, information from each signal is modified to have a time scale commensurate with noise and jitter to be added. Timing jitter is superimposed onto each transition, rise and fall times are incorporated, and missing voltage and timing information for each data signal is interpolated into vectors representing the signals.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2007Date of Patent: October 14, 2014Assignee: Micron Technology, Inc.Inventor: Timothy M. Patent number: 8849630Abstract: Techniques for monitoring and predicting environmental operating conditions in a data center are provided. In one aspect, a method for real-time, three-dimensional analysis of environmental operating conditions in a data center includes the following steps. High spatial resolution three-dimensional measurements of one or more environmental variables in the data center made at a time t1 are obtained. Real-time measurements of the environmental variables in the data center made at a time t2, wherein t2 is later in time than t1, are obtained. The high spatial resolution three-dimensional measurements are combined with the real-time measurements to derive a model for the environmental variables in the data center at the time t2. The model is used to predict three-dimensional distributions of the environmental variables in the data center at the time t2. A base model can be created and used to derive the model for the data center at the time t2.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2008Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Yasuo Amemiya, Hendrik F. Patent number: 8849631Abstract: A method of telephone call management in process of service development that allows a user to model and create telephone call management schemes independent of telecommunications protocols and network layer details. The method of the invention operates by creating an abstract model of a telephone call life-cycle that is converted, using a set of communication threads, into executable code. Models in accordance with the method of the invention are constructed using an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for creating and developing telecom services that embodies the Telecom Service Domain Specific Language (TS-DSL) which is implemented as a Unified Modeling Language (UML) extension for the telecom domain. By this method, individuals without specialized knowledge of telecom related software programming and protocols can successfully design and implement telecom services that manages calls.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2008Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Shiri Kremer-Davidson, Alan Hartman, Mila Keren, Dmitri Pikus

Patent number: 8768657Abstract: Predicting the remaining life of individual aircraft, fleets of aircraft, aircraft components and subpopulations of these components. This is accomplished through the use of precomputed databases of response that are generated from a model for the nonlinear system behavior prior to the time that decisions need to be made concerning the disposition of the system. The database is calibrated with a few data points, to account for unmodeled system variables, and then used with an input variable to predict future system behavior. These methods also permit identification of the root causes for observed system behavior. The use of the response databases also permits rapid estimations of uncertainty estimates for the system behavior, such as remaining life estimates, particularly, when subsets of an input variable distribution are passed through the database and scaled appropriately to construct the output distribution.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2007Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: JENTEK Sensors, Inc.Inventors: Neil J.
