Patent number: 9440825Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved level wind arm for a winch drum assembly, and a winch drum assembly incorporating such a level wind arm. The level wind arm includes a cross member adapted to bias against an outwardly extending portion of rope, the cross member being concave so that more force is required for the rope spindle associated with the cross member to “climb” the slope of the cross member, causing a momentary pause in motion of the spindle after it reaches the end of wind stroke. This momentary pause allows for rope being wound onto the drum to rise up the end wall of the drum to create a new layer which is aligned and consistent with the layer below, without causing gaps in the rope or other circumstances which could lead to the rope accumulating at any one point, or becoming tangled. The present invention also includes means of ensuring that tension is maintained in the rope, and that the rope does not jump off the reel and, for example, into the clutch mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2011Date of Patent: September 13, 2016Inventor: Harry Xydias

Patent number: 9315365Abstract: A pull chain moving assembly is designed to impart directional force on an endless-loop pull chain of a chain hoist. The assembly has a housing retaining a chain moving mechanism, which includes a chain pocket wheel and a pair of idler pulley assemblies mounted on opposite sides of the chain pocket wheel and adjacent thereto. Segments of the pull chain are received between the chain pocket wheel and the adjacent idler pulley guide, causing the pull chain to train through the chain moving mechanism. An electric motor rotates the chain pocket guide to facilitate movement of the pull chain and ease of lifting and lowering a load with the chain hoist.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2013Date of Patent: April 19, 2016Inventor: Robin Sargent
