  • Patent number: 6411212
Abstract: For a transponder arrangement having a transponder arranged on an object, in order to achieve longer ranges than would be possible with a purely field-supplied response mode, the transponder is provided with a chargeable electrical energy store. An inductive supply of energy from a pump circuit situated on the object is used to hold the energy store in a charged state. The transponder arrangement can advantageously be interrogated not only in the active mode now made possible, but also in a passive mode which is known per se and is supplied with power purely by the interrogation field.

  • Patent number: 6407667
Abstract: An alarm system is provided for alerting a golfer about a forgotten club. A divot tool incorporates a radio transmitter powered by a rechargeable power source for transmitting a coded transmission. A radio receiver tuned to receive the coded transmission includes logic circuitry that generates an alarm signal whenever power associated with the coded transmission drops below a threshold level. One or more alarm devices are coupled to the logic circuitry to generate alarm(s) when the alarm signal is supplied thereto. A power source is coupled to the radio receiver for supplying power thereto and for supplying a charging current for the rechargeable power source via an electrical coupling. When a golfer places a club or other accessory on the ground, the divot tool is placed near the club. As long as the golfer remains within a prescribed range, no alarm will be activated. However, if the golfer moves further from the divot tool than the prescribed range, an alarm is produced.

  • Patent number: 6407666
Abstract: An electrical connector is for use with a cylindrical member having an electrically conductive coating which can be damaged. The connector comprises a steel stamped ring with a terminal extending from the ring. Three like contacts overly the central opening of the ring and are bent for abutting the received cylindrical member in resilient sliding ohmic engagement regardless of the insertion or withdrawal direction of the member without destructive damage to the member coating. The contacts are relatively stiff to provide vibration resistant engagement with the member. The ring is supported in a slot in a housing to further stiffen the connector and the contact engagement with the member which completes a circuit which if broken is sensed and transmitted as a tampered condition.

  • Patent number: 6342832
Abstract: A process and device are disclosed for preventing a vehicle from colliding with an obstacle during parking. The object of the invention is therefore to ensure that a collision can be reliably avoided without any additional intervention of the drive. In a device with at least one sensor for generating signals which represent the distance between the vehicle and an obstacle, the signals are processed in an evaluation unit. When at least one distance-representing signal falls below a limit value, a warning signal is generated. This warning signal drives a control valve which generates a pressure difference between the working chamber and the vacuum chamber in a brake booster when the warning signal is generated. This pressure difference causes the braking pressure to rise in the wheel brake cylinder and therefore slows the vehicle down to a standstill.

  • Patent number: 6326882
Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for controlling a ventilation device. When the power switch of a room is turned on, the light of the room is turned on and the fan of the room is also turned on. When the power switch is turned off the light goes off, the automatic controlled fan still works for a predetermined amount of time (say, 5 minutes) and then shuts off automatically. If later the room is not being used, the automatic controlled fan will automatically repeat turning on and off (only turned on for a short time say, 5 minutes) periodically according to a set interval (say, repeat every 30 minutes). By the above automatic control of the ventilation fan, the bad odors or humid air in the room can be removed. If the room is not used for a longer period of time (say, 12 hours), the automatic controller enters sleep mode and the sleep timer will shut off the automatic repeat on/off function.
