  • Patent number: 10789829
Abstract: A hub device is disclosed comprising a first antenna communicating with a peripheral device, a second antenna communicating with a remote station. In a first operation mode, transmission by the first antenna is at a first bit rate. Operation may be triggered to switch to a second mode in which a stream of data is received from the remote station, and there is a transmission to the first peripheral device, of data derived from the data stream, the transmission being from the first antenna while the stream of data is being received on the second antenna. In the second mode, the transmission from the first antenna is at a second bit rate that is faster than the first bit rate such that transmitting the derived data at the second bit rate uses a shorter duty cycle than required to transmit the derived data at the first bit rate.

  • Patent number: 10782678
Abstract: Computerized methods and software for communicating behavior of industrial systems to operators, for instance, in HMI environments. Various embodiments display values of different parameters of the system and an alert indicator for values that passed an operating limit established for the parameter during a particular preceding duration of time. In some embodiments, different indicators (e.g., shading, for example, adjacent to the value) are displayed for exceeding an upper operating limit or a lower operating limit (or both). In a number of embodiments, a plot is displayed for value that has passed an operating limit during the preceding duration of time, for instance, when the operator hovers a cursor over the value. In many embodiments, the operator can set the preceding duration of time, the operating limit(s), or both. In many embodiments, abnormal movements or process variability can be detected by the operator, for example, before the movements would otherwise be detectable.

  • Patent number: 10767717
Abstract: A method for modifying a brake application of a combination vehicle comprises receiving a temperature signal of a first brake pad of a first brake assembly and receiving a temperature signal representative of a temperature of a second brake pad of a second brake assembly. The temperatures are compared to a first predetermined temperature. The method will determine if service brakes of the trailer are being applied by a driver and compare a wheel speed of the trailer with the wheel speed of a tractor of the combination vehicle. The method will determine a brake drag exists on the trailer in response to both the first and the second brake pad temperature being greater than the first predetermined temperature, the trailer wheel speed being less than the tractor wheel speed and the service brakes not being applied by the driver.

  • Patent number: 10763681
Abstract: A system and method is described for rapid charging and power management of a battery for a meter. A charger component is operably associated with the meter and is capable of executing a rapid charge algorithm for a rechargeable battery. The algorithm includes monitoring for a connection to an external power source and implementing a charging routine of a battery at a first charge rate and then at a second charge rate. The second charge rate is lower than the first charge rate. A temperature rise in the rechargeable battery due to the first charge rate has a negligible heat transfer effect on the fluid sample. The meter can also include a power switch for controlling current flow to a battery fuel gauge. The power switch is open when the meter enters into a sleep mode. The state of battery charge is determined after the meter exits the sleep mode.

  • Patent number: 10755555
Abstract: A service management system validates service on building management systems. Devices of the building management systems include wireless transmitters (for example, radiofrequency identification (RFID) tags) for transmitting wireless signals containing identification information. During service, a technician reads the identification information using a mobile computing device (for example, an RFID reader) while also recording the signal strength of the wireless signals. The mobile computing sends the identification information and signal strength information to a connected services system along with information about the service, and a validation module confirms that the identification information and signal strength information indicates that the technician was actually in the vicinity of the devices that were serviced.

  • Patent number: 10741043
Abstract: An offender monitoring system has an electronic tag and a monitoring unit. The electronic tag has a tether to secure the electronic tag to an offender and a communication device to communicate with the monitoring unit. The monitoring unit has a communication device to communicate with the electronic tag. The system has a processor which analyses a communication between the electronic tag and the monitoring unit to determine a communication property, such as latency, variability of latency over a plurality of communications and signal strength. The processor determines, based on the measured communication property differing from a historical value, whether the communication between the electronic tag and the monitoring unit has been relayed via an intermediary device in an attempt by the offender to trick the monitoring unit.

  • Patent number: 10733864
Abstract: An information processing device is equipped with a recognition information acquirer, a danger determiner, a signal generator, and a signal transmitter. The recognition information acquirer acquires, from an electric apparatus, recognition information that is information obtained as a result of recognition of sensor information by the electric apparatus that performs operational control using the sensor information, the sensor information being sensed and output by a sensor. The danger determiner determines whether a danger state exists based on the recognition information acquired by the recognition information acquirer. The signal generator, when the danger determiner determines that the danger state exists, generates an informing signal that causes operation of an informing function of an informing apparatus that informs of danger. The signal transmitter transmits to the informing apparatus the informing signal generated by the signal generator.

  • Patent number: 10725175
Abstract: A receiver method and apparatus provides a more efficient computation and application of optimal filters. Range and Doppler processing in the receiver are decoupled and, as a result, computational complexity required for both filter computation and filtering stages are significantly reduced. In one embodiment, a response to an emitted signal is demodulated and sampled to provide baseband samples. The response includes a component due to interaction of the emitted signal with a target, The baseband samples are filtered in a bank of N parallel range filters to provide N filter outputs for each of the baseband samples. For one or more Doppler phase shifts ?, a discrete Fourier transform of the N filter outputs is computed to produce Doppler components that may be analyzed to determine at least one of a presence, range and speed of the target.

  • Patent number: 10719747
Abstract: Surgical articles, such as sponges, are provided in a pack which contains individual surgical articles having UHF RFID or other electronic labels which provide both (a) unique identification information for each article as well as (b) unique identification information for all articles in the pack. Prior to the surgical procedure, the labels are scanned and the identification information for all articles in the pack uploaded to a processor to create a list of available individual surgical articles. At the end of the surgical procedure, the surgical articles are collected and the electronic labels read and compared to the initial list to determine if there are any unaccounted individual surgical articles. The UHF RFID tag may then be used to determine a location of the unaccounted article outside the patient's body.

  • Patent number: 10713509
Abstract: A parking assist system for a vehicle uses cameras to collect ground images at opposite edges of the vehicle. A speed sensor provides a speed signal representing a speed of the vehicle. When speed is less than a threshold, a navigation system compares a geographic location of the vehicle to map data or the camera images are monitored to detect parking zones. A parking controller is coupled to the cameras, a display panel, navigation system, and speed sensor. When the parking controller detects that the geographic location of the vehicle coincides with a parking zone then the parking controller 1) examines the ground images to recognize a pair of edge boundaries of a parking spot, 2) calculates a proportion of an intersection length of the vehicle contained within the boundaries to a full length of the vehicle, and 3) displays the calculated proportion as a percentage on the display panel.
