  • Patent number: 9942899
Abstract: Method in a network node for managing radio resources. The network node is comprised in a wireless radio network. A mobile station is configured to operate in the wireless radio network. The mobile station has a maximum bandwidth for simultaneous receptions, and a first carrier list comprising carriers. The carriers are radio carriers assigned to the mobile station. The maximum bandwidth cannot envelope all the carriers in the first carrier list. The network node removes one or more carriers from the first carrier list. The removing of the one or more carriers is performed, one carrier by one carrier, until the maximum bandwidth can envelope all remaining carriers after the removing. The one or more removed carriers have a lowest priority according to a priority list. The remaining carriers comprise carriers to receive for the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 9942058
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a novel method for managing hardware forwarding elements (MHFEs) that facilitate the creation of multiple logical networks on a set of shared physical forwarding elements. The method uses a set of logical controllers that generate data that defines a set of logical networks, and a set physical controllers to distribute the generated data to the hardware forwarding elements. In some embodiments, each MHFE can serve as either a master MHFE or a slave MHFE for one set of computing end nodes (e.g., VMs, containers, etc.) in a logical network. To ensure proper routing of data packets to the computing end nodes, each MHFE sends to its physical controller an inventory (e.g., a table, a list, etc.) of the set of computing end nodes for which it serves as the master MHFE or the slave MHFE. Each physical controller forwards the inventory for each logical network to the logical controller for the logical network.

  • Patent number: 9942840
Abstract: A method of communicating between a wireless security device and a security server through an access point includes estimating a link latency between a time of transmission of a message from the wireless security device and a time at which a response is received from the security server. A polling mode is enabled in which the access point will hold messages received by the access point that are directed to the wireless security device while the device is in a sleep state, without discarding the messages for a threshold period of time. The wireless security device may be placed in a sleep state and woken after a wake time determined based on the estimated link latency, and receives any messages received by the access point during the sleep state.

  • Patent number: 9935851
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for determining sensor placement and topology. In some embodiments, a system can receive messages from sensors deployed around a network, each of the messages reporting a respective flow captured by a reporting sensor from the sensors. Next, the system can identify flows reported in the messages and, for each of the flows, generate a respective list of sensors that reported that flow. Based on the respective list of sensors, the system can infer a respective placement of the sensors within the network and a topology of the sensors. For example, the system can determine that a first sensor is deployed in a virtual machine, a second sensor is deployed in a hypervisor hosting the virtual machine, and a third sensor is deployed in a network device configured to route traffic associated with the hypervisor.

  • Patent number: 9936439
Abstract: There is provided a sensor network information collection mechanism in which, after a UE has decided to become part of an information collecting operation for collecting information from a local sensor network, a signaling transmitted from a managing node of a local sensor network is received and processed. A communication network control element is informed about the willingness to become an information collector by sending a report message comprising measurement results derived from the signaling received from the managing node of the local sensor network. When receiving a gateway allocation message indicating that the UE is determined to be a gateway element to the local sensor network, the information collecting operation is started wherein sensor nodes of the local sensor network are woke up, and a traffic flow direction in the local sensor network is set in accordance with the managing node identity to which the UE is accessed.

  • Patent number: 9930639
Abstract: Since OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), which is a downlink access scheme used for an LTE (Long Term Evolution) communication system, is weak at interference, it is preferable that the number of base stations for transmitting the same E-MBMS (Evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service) data base not excessive. Thus, the mobile terminal performs: processing of obtaining measurement quality values by measuring reception quality of each base station; processing of deciding on whether the measurement quality value of a serving base station exceeds a certain receiving level; processing of adding measurement quality values of other base stations to the measurement quality value of the serving base station until the sum exceeds the certain receiving level; and processing of notifying the serving base station of the serving base station and other base stations as candidates for an active set for E-MBMS.

  • Patent number: 9929761
Abstract: This disclosure relates to radio frequency (RF) front end circuitry for portable communication devices. In one embodiment, the RF front end circuitry includes an antenna, a switchable receive path configured to be opened and to be closed, a coaxial cable, and a low noise amplifier (LNA). The LNA is coupled so as to drive the coaxial cable. Thus, when the switchable receive path is closed, an RF receive signal received by the antenna can propagate through the switchable receive path to the LNA. Since the LNA is driving the coaxial cable, the RF receive signal can propagate through the coaxial cable without being excessively degraded. In this manner, embodiments of the RF front end circuitry can be utilized to provide antenna swapping and RF transceiver circuitry coupled to the coaxial cable can receive the RF receive signal from the coaxial cable without excessive degradation.

  • Patent number: 9923612
Abstract: The present invention proposes a hybrid spatial multiplexing (SM) and a space division multiple access (SDMA) technique in a frequency division duplex (FDD) massive multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) system using a two-dimensional planar array antenna, which effectively transmits a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) for estimating a downlink two-dimensional space channel using only a limited amount of downlink radio resources, and optimally selects and performs the SM and SDMA techniques in a two-dimensional space channel. To this end, the present invention proposes a technique which defines space resource blocks (SRB) by grouping space elements (SE) having a high spatial correlation between downlink channels in the horizontal dimension and corresponding SEs thereof in the vertical dimension, and transmits CSI-RSs for estimating channels in vertical dimension SEs corresponding to one selected horizontal SE in each SRB every transmit time interval (TTI).

  • Patent number: 9918346
Abstract: A device includes a database, a controller, and a PVN router. The database is configured to store network settings information and tracks devices connected to a network. The controller is configured to control access of devices to one another after establishing a connection to the network. The PVN router is configured to receive a provisioning request from a requesting to connect to the network. The PVN router is further configured to transmit a provisioning response to the requesting device based on instantiation of a PVN template received from the database. The PVN template is generated based on the network settings information and further based on the control access determined by the controller. The provisioning response establishes a connection between the requesting device and the network. The requesting device is inaccessible by a subset of devices already connected in the network after the connection is established and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 9900866
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate identifying devices in a wireless network and cognitively communicating with devices over utilized frequencies. Devices can be identified by receiving downlink resource assignments related to the devices, evaluating uplink transmissions thereover, and identifying the devices from one or more aspects of the uplink transmissions (e.g., an identifier in the transmission). Moreover, the uplink transmissions can be re-transmitted to a serving device to provide relay functionality for the transmissions. Additionally, peer-to-peer communication with the device and/or other devices can be facilitated by using a portion of available transmission power to re-transmit while using the other portion to transmit peer-to-peer communications. Thus, interference caused by the peer-to-peer communications is mitigated by additionally functioning as a relay using a portion of the transmit power.
