Patent number: 11736128Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for channelizing a wideband waveform for transmission on a spectral band comprising unavailable channel segments are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for transmitting and receiving wideband waveforms when channels of a system bandwidth are unavailable for transmission. A transmitter may separate a first wideband signal into segments, with each segment a bandwidth corresponding to a channel of the system bandwidth, and may map the segments to the available channels. The transmitter may combine the mapped segments into a second wideband waveform and transmit the second wideband waveform using the available channels. A receiver may receive a first wideband signal waveform and may separate the first wideband signal waveform into segments, de-map the segments and combine the de-mapped segments into a second wideband waveform for demodulation. The techniques may be used to transmit and receive wideband waveforms over tactical data links.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2021Date of Patent: August 22, 2023Assignee: ViaSat, Inc.Inventors: Michael T. Patent number: 11671923Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling uplink power in a non-terrestrial network (NTN). An NTN station transmits a reference signal at a first time having a defined transmission power and the reference signal is received by non-terrestrial user equipment. The user equipment evaluates the reference signal and determines a first downlink loss of the reference signal by calculating a difference between a measured power level of the received reference signal and the defined transmission power. The NTN station transmits a communication signal at a second time and is received by the user equipment, which estimates a second downlink loss of the communication signal based on the first downlink loss and a power level of the communication signal. A first uplink loss is estimated based on the second downlink loss, and the user equipment adjusts a transmission power of its transmitter based on the first uplink loss.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2022Date of Patent: June 6, 2023Assignee: DISH WIRELESS L.L.C.Inventors: Mehdi Alasti, Siddhartha Chenumolu, Mariam Sorond
