  • Patent number: 6752636
Abstract: A retainer device (30) for securing a CPU (50) to a socket (10) includes a base (32), a clip (36) pivotably attached to a rear of the base, and a crank (34) pivotably attached to a front of the base. The clip has a frame (362), and a pair of supporting flanges (368) and a pair of pressing tabs (369) depending from the frame. A hook (366) depends from a front of the clip. The crank has an offset pressing lever (344) and an operation rod (346). When the operation rod is rotated down toward the socket, the pressing lever drives the hook downwardly. The supporting flanges abut against the base, and the pressing tabs press the CPU. When a heat sink (20) is attached to the CPU, it slightly depresses the CPU, and the CPU is moved downwardly away from contact with the pressing tabs.

  • Patent number: 6752633
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical cable for termination to an electrical component and method for termination that minimizes the mismatching of the differential impedance of a terminal part from which a shielding covering of an electrical cable has been stripped in a cable consisting of two differential transmission signal wires, a drain wire and a shielding covering that covers the electrical wire. Accordingly, a plastic heat-shrink tube is caused to adhere tightly to the terminal part and shielding covering, except for the stripped front end portion of the terminal part, so that the front end portion is exposed. As a result, the heat-shrink tube prevents or alleviates the mismatching of the differential impedance.

  • Patent number: 6749453
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) for electrically connecting an electronic package with a circuit substrate. The connector includes an insulative base (10), a cover (30), and an actuation device (40) for actuating the cover to slide along the base. The base defines a plurality of receiving passageways (103) respectively receiving corresponding electrical terminals therein. The cover defines a plurality of through holes (31) corresponding to the receiving passageways. The base further defines a receiving space (100) at one end thereof. A circular hole (108) is defined in a bottom wall of the base below the receiving space, which can ensure that the base at the receiving space has a uniform thickness and enhanced intension during manufacturing.

  • Patent number: 6743057
Abstract: An electrical connector with a plurality of signal modules stacked therein is provided. Ground shields are interleaved between adjacent signal modules. The signal modules include signal traces that may, or may not, be arranged in differential pairs and mating faces configured to join a mating connector and a PCB. The signal modules include a notch formed in at least one edge. The notches align with one another to form a channel that receives a cross-link that reduces relative movement between signal modules. The cross-link may be a flat bar having a series of cutouts that are slidably received by the signal modules. The electrical connector may include one or more cross-links. Optionally, the cross-link may be made of a conductive material and engage the ground shields, thereby electrically interconnecting the ground shields.

  • Patent number: 6733314
Abstract: In fitting a movable-side housing on a stationary-side housing, a front leading end portion of the movable-side housing is brought into contact with a front base portion of the stationary-side housing. At this time, it is unnecessary to accurately place the movable-side housing in position. When the movable-side housing is moved toward a matching position, guides guide the movable-side housing to the matching position reliably. Consequently, the cam followers fit into entrances of cam grooves. Thereafter, a slide lever is moved to bring electrodes of one housing into connection with electrodes of the other housing. It is not difficult to properly position the movable-side housing with respect to the stationary-side housing. Therefore, even in a situation in which it is difficult to visually check the position of the movable-side housing, an operation of fitting the movable-side housing on the stationary-side housing can be performed easily and reliably.

  • Patent number: 6733312
Abstract: A connector (20) has a housing (21) and a lever (35) on outer surfaces of the housing (21). The housing (21) has two first resilient pieces (43) and two second resilient pieces (44) engageable with the lever (35). The lever (35) is held at an initial position by engaging first holding projections (47) of the first resilient pieces (43) in first engaging holes (48) in arms (36) of the lever (35) and by engaging second holding projections (49) of the, second resilient pieces (44) with engaging pieces (50) on the arms (36). The lever (35) can be rotated toward a shelter position so that the second resilient pieces (44) deform inwardly. The second resilient pieces (44) are restored resiliently to engage the second holding projections (49) with the second engaging holes (51) in the arms (36) to hold the lever (35) at the shelter position.

  • Patent number: 6716044
Abstract: The present invention provides a device and method for separating electrical connector assemblies. Electrical connector assemblies typically comprise a male connector, commonly called a plug, and a female connector, commonly called a receptacle. The separation of an electrical connector assembly is accomplished by at least one lever disposed in the body of at least one of the connectors. The lever is attached to the body of the connector such that when the lever is “up” the lower portion of the lever is flush with the mating surface so as not to not interfere with the coupling of the connector. Actuation of the lever, i.e., moving the lever to its down position, causes a displacement of at least one of the connectors comprising the electrical connector assembly. The present invention may be adapted to a wide range of electrical connectors including, but not limited to: standard household plug and sockets, parallel connectors, serial connectors, and inline connectors.

  • Patent number: 6703777
Abstract: In an adjusting method for a cathode position of an electron gun, an apex point of a dome-shaped cathode is detected and then a positional adjustment is executed by moving a first grid in a X-Y direction so that a center of a grid aperture is coincided with the position of the apex point, at first. Next, a sleeve ring and a collar portion of a sleeve holder are welded together by a laser beam. The a dgk-vale adjustment is done so as for a gap between first grid and apex point of the cathode to be a predetermined value and welded by irradiating the laser beam to a superposed position of the cathode structure and the sleeve. According to the present invention, these positioning adjustment and the dgk-value adjustment are able to be executed independently.

  • Patent number: 6685500
Abstract: A connector includes a female housing (30) that can be fit into a receptacle (11) of a male housing (10). A lock arm (18) projects into the receptacle (11) and is elastically deformable in a direction intersecting the connecting direction of the housings (10, 30) between an engaging position where it is engageable with a slider (51) assembled into the female housing (30) via compression coil springs (50) and a disengaging position where it is disengaged from the slider (51). If a connecting or separating operation is interrupted halfway, spring forces accumulated in the compression coil springs (50) elastically compressed by the slider (51) are released, and the slider (51) is biased forward and the lock arm (18) located in the engaging position is pushed to forcibly separate the housings (10, 30) from each other.
