Abstract: A prosthesis having a radially expanded configuration and a radially compressed configuration includes a frame with a plurality of infolding longitudinal segments. Each of the infolding longitudinal segments of the frame extend an entire length of the frame and is configured to deform radially inward when the prosthesis is in the radially compressed configuration such that a series of longitudinally aligned apices of each infolding longitudinal segment is disposed radially inward of the remainder of the prosthesis. In an embodiment, the frame also includes a plurality of outfolding longitudinal segments. Each of the outfolding longitudinal segments of the frame extend an entire length of the frame and is configured to deform radially outward when the prosthesis is in the radially compressed configuration such that a series of longitudinally aligned apices of each outfolding longitudinal segment is disposed radially outward of the remainder of the prosthesis.

  • Patent number: 11278400
Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve includes a frame, a valvular structure coupled to the frame, and a sealing member coupled to the frame. The frame has inflow and outflow ends and a lumen extending therebetween. The frame includes struts that form cells, and the cells are arranged in three rows. The frame is radially expandable from a collapsed state to an expanded state. The valvular structure includes a plurality of leaflets configured to allow blood flow through the lumen of the frame from the inflow end to the outflow end and to block blood flow through the lumen of the frame from the outflow end to the inflow end. The sealing skirt extends from an intermediate location of the frame disposed between the inflow and outflow ends to the inflow end of the frame. The sealing skirt covers two rows of cells to block blood flow through the cells.

  • Patent number: 11278417
Abstract: An orthopaedic system includes an insert defining an anterior-posterior centerline and including: a medial half on one side of the centerline and defining a medial shape, the medial half having a medial articular surface defining a medial dwell region; and a lateral half on an opposite side of the centerline and defining a lateral shape that differs from the medial shape, the lateral half having a lateral articular surface. A femoral component includes a medial condylar portion bearing on the medial articular surface and a lateral condylar portion bearing on the lateral articular surface. The insert is configured to substantially limit medial anterior-posterior translation on the femoral component and define a pivot axis that extends through the medial dwell region. The insert is configured such that rotation of the lateral articular surface follows an arcuate path about the pivot axis.

  • Patent number: 11266499
Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve for implant in a human. The valve includes a wireform with undulating inflow cusps and outflow commissure posts to which flexible leaflets attach and coapt in a flow area. Each leaflet may drape over the top of the wireform in the cusp area, but have tabs that each extend underneath the wireform at the commissure posts to be secured along with a tab of an adjacent leaflet. The prosthetic heart valve may also be a dual-wire wireform, with the leaflets sandwiched therebetween. One wireform may be larger than the other, with the leaflets extending over the smaller wireform. The smaller wireform may have commissures that bend radially outward from the larger wireform to provide structure to which the leaflet tabs attach.

  • Patent number: 11253252
Abstract: Devices, systems and/or methods for repairing soft tissue adjacent a repair site. In one embodiment, a repair device is delivered with a delivery device system configured to move a cartridge with the repair device disposed therein toward an anvil with soft tissue positioned thereon. The delivery device linearly moves the cartridge toward the anvil with a worm drive positioned within a housing by rotating a thumb wheel disposed around the worm drive. Such linear movement is provided with a finger element extending from the worm drive that is configured to cooperate with an internal surface of the thumb wheel. With this arrangement, upon rotating the thumb wheel, the worm drive rotates with the finger element engaged with the internal surface of the thumb wheel to linearly move the cartridge toward the anvil.

  • Patent number: 11241314
Abstract: A device for improving the function of a heart valve comprises: a support member formed from a shape memory material, and a restraining member providing a restraining action on a course of the support member. The support member may abut one side of the valve conforming to the shape of the valve annulus upon said shape memory material assuming an activated shape while the restraining member restrains the course of the support member. The restraining action is removable for allowing the support member to assume a desired, altered course. The restraining member may be biodegradable to be degraded within a patient or may be detachable from the support member to be withdrawn. The support member according to another embodiment presents a shape change in that an increased cross-section is associated with a shortened length of the support member. The support member according to yet another embodiment has a first and a second activated shape.

  • Patent number: 11166822
Abstract: A surgical implant for total wrist replacement (TWR) includes a carpal portion and a radial portion to fully encompass both sides of the articulated joint defining wrist movement. The carpal portion is defined by a unitary structure that defines a fused form of the scaphoid, lunate and triquetrum, and bears against the radial portion for permitting articulated motion. The radial portion replaces a distal portion of the natural radius adjacent the wrist, and has the form of a “T” to combine a bearing surface with a stem adapted for implantation in the natural radius. The stem engages a receptacle or bore formed in a truncated end of the natural radius. Both the radial portion and the carpal portion patient-specific members are formed from image scans of the patient's own skeletal structures, and incorporate inverted, contralateral images of healthy structure based on an assessment of deformation in the replaced joint.
