Abstract: A system and method includes a first device having an ordering interactive interface having available content. The first device forms a content selection corresponding to the on-demand content from the interactive interface and communicates the content selection to a content processing system. The content processing system communicates a control word to the user device. A user device receives the content corresponding to the selection in response to the control word. The content processing system or the user device generates an email indicative of a completion of storing the content in the user device.

Abstract: Methods and systems for displaying, to a user interface, categories of items for the user to select from for querying the system, in order to enable the system to return to the user images of items of the style desired by the user for possible purchase. The categories of items can be presented to the user interface visually in silhouette form so that the user can select brand and the silhouette image of the style of item desired. Upon selection of the silhouette image, a query is sent to the system and images of the desired style of item are returned to the user interface for presentation to the user, along with certain attributes of the style of the item.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for preparing and delivering an ordered product upon detecting a customer presence are disclosed. In one example, a method includes detecting the presence of a mobile device associated with a customer identifier at a designated area and initiating, upon detecting the presence of the mobile device, the processing of a stored order request associated with the customer identifier for at least one product. The method further includes utilizing the customer identifier to send a notification message to the mobile device indicating that the at least one product is available for pickup or delivery.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus transferring power between the grid and an electric vehicle are disclosed. The apparatus may include at least one vehicle communication port for interfacing with electric vehicle equipment (EVE) and a processor coupled to the at least one vehicle communication port to establish communication with the EVE, receive EVE attributes from the EVE, and transmit electric vehicle station equipment (EVSE) attributes to the EVE. Power may be transferred between the grid and the electric vehicle by maintaining EVSE attributes, establishing communication with the EVE, and transmitting the EVSE maintained attributes to the EVE.

Abstract: Techniques for purchasing products from a retail establishment using a mobile device allow a user to transact a purchase of physical products within a retail establishment site, without need for significant interaction with personnel of the retail establishment to transact the purchase. The user may install a software application on the mobile device to communicate with a purchase facilitating server. An image acquisition component of the mobile device may be used to obtain an image of indicia, such as a bar code, on a product to be purchased within the retail establishment. Image recognition may be performed on the indicia to identify the product to be purchased, the user may submit payment information via the mobile device, and the purchase facilitating server may transact the user's purchase of the product. The purchase facilitating server may transmit a purchase confirmation to the mobile device as a receipt of the user's purchase.

Abstract: Systems and methods for use with a service provider and a consumer electronic device include a trusted remote attestation agent (TRAA) configured to perform a set of checking procedures or mechanisms to determine the security status of a consumer electronic device (e.g., mobile terminal or phone) holding financial instruments. Checking procedures may include: self-verifying integrity by the TRAA; checking for presence of a provisioning SIM card (one present when financial instruments were enabled on the device); checking that communication connectivity between the device and service provider is available and active; and that communication connectivity to a home mobile network is available and active. Frequency of the checking mechanisms may be adjusted according to a risk-profile of a user associated with the device or the GPS location of the device. The checks may be used to temporarily disable or limit the use of the financial instruments from the device.

Abstract: Example embodiments of a system and method for image-based listing of an item, using an image of multiple items, are generally described herein. In some example embodiments, an image-based listing system includes an identifying module to identify a portion of an image of multiple items, the portion of the image depicting the item; a tagging module to associate tag information with the portion of the image, the tag information being associated with the item; and a listing module to list the item, the listing of the item comprising displaying at least some tag information.

Abstract: A method for using metadata in digital media or streams to offer goods and/or services for sale including defining and promoting a specification for embedding goods and/or services offerings in programming digital media or digital streams and providing an application programming interface (API) to facilitate building a custom checkout user interface on a digital media playing device. The method also includes receiving, at a server or service via the custom checkout user interface, at least one of consumer orders for offered goods and/or services and requests to place offered goods and/or services on a consumers' list.

Abstract: A method and system displaying and managing images of consumer products with cloud computing. A layout for plural selected consumer products is selected. An N-layer digital image of a shelf layout on which consumer products are displayed is created and stored in one or more cloud storage objects. The created N-layer digital image includes an M-layer hierarchy of vector images and/or visual overlays stored in one or more cloud storage objects in progressive resolution format and allows progressive resolution display without loss of image quality on the selected plural consumer products that appear in the N-layer digital image. The created N-layer digital image is displayed via a cloud communications network. The created image provides a virtual shopping experience that emulates a shopping experience in an actual retail store.

Abstract: A method to help a user visualize how a wearable article will look on the user's body. Enacted on a computing system, the method includes receiving an image of the user's body from an image-capture component. Based on the image, a posable, three-dimensional, virtual avatar is constructed to substantially resemble the user. In this example method, data is obtained that identifies the wearable article as being selected for the user. This data includes a plurality of metrics that at least partly define the wearable article. Then, a virtualized form of the wearable article is attached to the avatar, which is provided to a display component for the user to review.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for an interactive point of purchase product display. The interactive point of purchase product display includes a product placement region, one or more products located in the product placement region, an input device configured to receive an input signal, a controller device, and a selection indicator device. The input device may receive data about a potential consumer or customer. The controller device is coupled to the input device and the one or more products and is configured to receive data from the input device responsive to the input signal, select a product in response to the receive input and generate a selection signal identifying the product resulting in the attention of a customer to be drawn to the product.

Abstract: An electronic service image marketplace for service images is provided that permits users to browse descriptions of service images implementing desired functionalities of a virtual machine image. The described service images may be further offered for purchase through the electronic service image marketplace. An operational data service, in communication with the electronic service image marketplace, may collect operational data from a plurality of host computing devices executing the selected service image. The operational data service may further analyze the collected operational data to obtain an aggregate measure of operational data for the selected service image when executed by host computing devices. The analyzed operational data may be further provided to the electronic service image marketplace for display within the description of the selected service image.

Abstract: A portable computer in a store can be carried past a kiosk and wirelessly receive from the kiosk demonstration versions of software, along with an ID of the store. Later, after using the demonstration version, the user can access a Web server and purchase a full version of the software. During the transaction, the store ID is provided to the server, which can then credit the particular store at which the demonstration version was obtained with a sale.

Abstract: An electronic marketplace for service images permits users to browse descriptions of service images implementing desired functionalities of a virtual machine image. The described service images may contain one or more software applications and may be further offered for purchase through an electronic service image marketplace. The electronic marketplace can further provide uniform control objects that are associated with multiple service images and multiple instruction sets. Following an interaction with a particular uniform control object, the electronic marketplace can perform an action on a particular service image based on an association between the particular uniform control object and a particular instruction set associated with the particular service image.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for ranking applications. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, from a computing device, a feedback report related to an application configured to run on the computing device, the feedback report including information indicative of an error with the application, and a geographic location of the computing device at a time when the application encountered the error; generating, based on the feedback report, one or more metrics indicative of a performance of the application in the geographic location; retrieving information indicative of other applications associated with metrics indicative of a performance of the other applications in the geographic location; and ranking the applications in accordance with the metrics indicative of the performance of the applications in the geographic location.

Abstract: A system for purchasing and delivering a specific gift, in which, at the time of the purchase, the buyer, instead of being provided with the gift, is provided with a gift proxy or special package which includes a gift token which includes an authentication device. The gift proxy also includes a picture of the specific gift. The buyer delivers the gift proxy to the recipient. At a future time and place, not necessarily pre-determined, the recipient provides the gift proxy to the seller, the seller authenticates the gift proxy, and the recipient receives the gift from the seller. A centralized and networked order management system monitors the gift tokens. The system can be online and/or store oriented, and can be used to transact in goods and/or services other than gifts.

Abstract: A method is provided for managing item placement in a store. A count of electronic price labels (EPLs) is sent, by a processor, to a handheld device indicating a quantity of EPLs needed in a select portion of a planogram. An EPL identifier is received, by the processor, from the handheld device for each of the quantity of EPLs equal to the count. An item in the portion of the planogram is linked, by the processor, to each EPL. Placement information is sent, by the processor, to each electronic price label. The placement information corresponds with the linked item and is configured to be rendered on a display of each EPL.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide techniques for scrubbing variable paths in content. By way of example and not limitation, scrubbing can include receiving user input that defines a scrub path and navigating a data path through content based on the scrub path. According to some embodiments, a data path can include one or more predefined paths (e.g., a travel route) through the content. One or more of the techniques can account for variations in a data path and provide ways of maintaining adjacency between a scrub path and navigation along the data path. In some embodiments, a data path can be associated with one or more types of data path content that can be presented in response to a navigation of the data path.

Abstract: A method and system for making a requisition for one or more items including providing a requisition module written as a service, using the requisition module to place one or more orders for one or more items, and monitoring the status of the one or more orders or the one or more items. When one or more orders is placed by a user of the module, an instant message or an email is provided to the user, wherein the instant message or email specifies the status of the one or more orders to the user.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide techniques for commercial transactions for the sale of images carried out over short-range wireless transmissions. In one embodiment, the transaction may be initiated by a vendor (e.g., a professional photographer), who transmits a wireless signal including an offer for sale of an image. A customer wishing to purchase the image responds by sending a wireless signal including an acceptance of the offer. In another embodiment, the transaction may be initiated by a customer, who transmits a wireless signal including a request for an image to be fulfilled by a vendor. A vendor agreeing to supply the image responds by sending a wireless signal including an acceptance of the request. By offering the images to customers who are in close proximity to the image capture, the vendor may increase the likelihood that the images will be purchased.
