  • Patent number: 5306856
Abstract: A method of manufacturing methylidene-group-containing .alpha.,.omega.-unsaturated oligomers from .alpha.,.omega.-diolefins in the presence of a catalytic amount of organoaluminum compounds, wherein the .alpha.,.omega.-diolefins are reacted in the liquid phase, at 150.degree.-350.degree. C., and the organoaluminum compounds have formula AlX.sub.3 or AlX.sub.2 H, where X represents an aliphatic, alicyclic, or aromatic hydrocarbon group with 1-30 C atoms. The higher molecular weight hydrocarbons manufactured according to this method are substantially linear oligomers which contain reactive double bonds.

  • Patent number: 4941966
Abstract: A process for the hydrogenative conversion of mixtures of oil and organic waste products, comprising the steps of:(i) preparing a hydrogenation mixture comprising(a) a heavy oil, residual oil, or mixtures thereof, or(b) a used oil, a waste oil or mixtures thereof, or mixtures of (a) and (b), and(c) one or more organic waste products containing natural or synthetic organic compounds comprising uncrosslinked or crosslinked carbon chains;(ii) contacting said hydrogenation mixture with 0.1-10 wt. % of an additive selected from the group consisting of high surface area suspended solids containing carbon, red mud, iron oxides, electrostatic filter dusts and cyclone dusts, wherein said additive comprises particles in two different particle size ranges, a fine particle fraction with a particle size 90 microns or less, and a coarse particle fraction with a particle size between 100-1000 microns; and(iii) hydrogenating said contacted mixture at a hydrogen partial pressure of 50-350 bar, a temperature of 250.degree.

  • Patent number: 4828680
Abstract: Combustible carbonaceous particles such as particles of sponge coke or coal are incorporated with the circulating inventory of cracking catalyst in a fluid catalytic cracking unit. The carbonaceous particles selectively sorb metal contaminants in the feed, thereby extending catalyst life, and they also serve to reduce NO.sub.x emissions in certain instances. The sorbed metals values may be recovered as the carbonaceous particles are burned.

  • Patent number: 4806331
Abstract: A strontium or barium carbonate product that is better suited for use as a glass ingredient is obtained by sintering the powdered carbonate in a kiln lined with fused amorphous silica. The carbonate picks up fewer harmful contaminants from the amorphous silica lining than it does from, say, a refractory silica-alumina brick lining or a kiln having a metallic inner surface.
