  • Patent number: 9906398
Abstract: A settings service running on a server remote from a computing device can identify at least one settings group to which the computing device belongs. The settings service can identify all settings that are included in the at least one settings group to which the device belongs. The settings service can compare all the settings and detect any conflicting settings. If there are conflicting settings, the service can choose which of the conflicting settings takes priority, in order to resolve the conflict. For example, a default setting can be overridden by a setting with a higher priority. After resolving the conflict, the settings service can merge the conflicting setting(s) which takes priority, as well as the non-conflicting settings, into a single set of settings to be applied to the device. The settings service can transmit the set of settings to the computing device to be applied.

  • Patent number: 9882964
Abstract: One embodiment provides a system that facilitates explicit strategy feedback in a Content-Centric Network (CCN). During operation, the system sends a first interest associated with an explicit strategy feedback request via an egress interface. This egress interface is in a plurality of egress interfaces associated with a same name in a forwarding table. An interest is location-independent and uniquely identifies the content object in the CCN and is routed based on the name in the CCN. The system stores one or more parameters received in response to the explicit strategy feedback request in an entry, which includes the name and the egress interface, in the forwarding table. The one or more parameters are associated with a first device. The system determines, for a second interest for a content object associated with the name, an egress interface from the plurality of egress interfaces based on the stored parameters.

  • Patent number: 9852520
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for implementing reduced video stream bandwidth requirements when remotely rendering a complex computer graphics scene. Complexity of a scene is reduced at a server, prior to rendering a video stream that comprises the scene and transmitting the video stream to a client. Reducing the complexity of a scene at the server includes adjusting predefined scene configuration parameters. The order and degree to which predefined scene configuration parameters are adjusted is based upon a required stream bandwidth reduction to be made.

  • Patent number: 9736189
Abstract: A system and method which overcomes the limitations of the present modes of operating a SCIM by improving efficiency of information transfer in application chains while assuring that service logic is not affected. Initial filtering criteria for applications are extended to include criteria which define types of information to be processed by the application. The SCIM then determines whether each received request meet the criteria for each application. The SCIM filters out certain messages from applications to which the messages are irrelevant thereby dynamically varying the applications through which messages are passed in response to message characteristics. The system and method avoid the need to send request and response through applications to which their content is irrelevant.

  • Patent number: 9712621
Abstract: An endpoint may share client information as part of a negotiation of a secure connection with an application such that connections terminated by the endpoint may have client information reported to the application. An endpoint may include termination points of communication, such as a proxy. For example, a client may connect to a load balancer through a protocol, such as transport layer security (TLS). By connecting to the load balancer, client data becomes known to the load balancer. The load balancer may then connect to an application server through TLS. During the negotiation phase of TLS, the load balancer may send client data using an extension to TLS. In some embodiments, the application may use the client data to determine whether or not to accept the client connection, such as client encryption parameters that indicate sufficient encryption strength.

  • Patent number: 9686091
Abstract: A network communication system includes a network address management and functional object discovery system. The network address management and functional object discovery system includes a network manager that manages network addresses for functional objects of electronic devices that communicate with each other over a network. The network manager may maintain a database that maps or associates unique IDs of the functional objects with associated network addresses. The network manager may provide non-conflicting instance IDs and network addresses to the electronic devices. The network manager may also provide instance IDs and/or network addresses for other electronic devices so that the electronic devices may communicate with each other over the network.

  • Patent number: 9635106
Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating peer-to-peer communication are disclosed. A payor and a payee may establish a communication request with intent to execute a transaction in a P2P payment. The payee and the payor may transmit a first request and a second request respectively to an intermediary server to establish the communication. Based on the first request and the second request, the intermediary server sends one or more identification elements to the payee and payor. The payee and payor are identified at intermediary server as parties for P2P payment after an augmented reality (AR) experience and a resultant synchronized action that sends first trigger request and second trigger request from the respective devices.

  • Patent number: 9628400
Abstract: In one embodiment, an intermediate node in a communication network receives a client interest with an indication of a client-requested reverse private path. The reverse private path is a label switched path toward a corresponding client with encrypted client information. In response to receiving the client interest, the intermediate node allocates a label for the reverse private path. The allocated label is mapped to a node from which the client interest is received. The intermediate node then forwards the client interest with the allocated label toward a server. In another embodiment, the server receives a client interest including a client-requested reverse private path from a particular intermediate node and determines a server interest. The allocated label for the client interest is inserted into the server interest which is forwarded toward the client via the particular intermediate node using the allocated label for the reverse private path.

  • Patent number: 9608916
Abstract: Herein described is a collection of traffic classifiers communicatively coupled to a classification aggregator. Traffic classifiers may use conventional techniques to classify network traffic by application name, and thereafter may construct mappings that are used to more efficiently classify future network traffic. Mappings may associate one or more characteristics of a communication flow with an application name. In a collaborative approach, these mappings are shared among the traffic classifiers by means of the classification aggregator so that one traffic classifier can leverage the intelligence (e.g., mappings) formulated by another traffic classifier.

  • Patent number: 9596245
Abstract: A one-way interface for a network device which secures status registers therein from unauthorized changes. The interface includes a first server, a one-way data link and a second server. The first server is coupled to the status registers to read information stored therein. The first server reads the information from the status registers and transmits the information on an output. The one-way data link has an input coupled to the output of the first server and an output. The second server has an input coupled to the output of the one-way data link and an output coupled to a network. The second server receives the information from the first server via the one-way data link. The second server transmits the information on the output to a predetermined network destination and/or provides a user interface for providing access to the information via the network.

  • Patent number: 9473592
Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and apparatus that includes obtaining content with an original server cookie comprising a name and a value in response to a client request. Whether the value includes one or more of an established set of characters is determined. A new value is generated based on the value of the original server cookie and a URL encoding of the one or more of the established set of characters and any percent characters included in the value of the original server cookie prefixed by a first indicator character, when it is determined that the value includes one or more of the established set of characters. A web optimized client cookie comprising the new value and the name of the original server cookie concatenated with a domain attribute and path attribute associated with the content is generated. The web optimized client cookie is provided to the client.
