  • Patent number: 8773358
Abstract: An improved handheld electronic device and associated method provide an advanced editing feature and an improved learning feature that are provided in a disambiguation environment. The advanced editing feature advantageously enables a new word that has been incorrectly disambiguated by a disambiguation routine to be readily corrected by the user without requiring the incorrectly disambiguated word to be deleted and retyped. Rather, the advanced editing feature enables the incorrectly disambiguated characters to be replaced with opposite characters on the same keys, and such changes can be accomplished merely through the use of inputs to a track ball. The newly edited word can then be learned by a learning database. The improved learning function advantageously favors words that are learned using the advanced editing feature over words that have been learned in other fashions.

  • Patent number: 8743044
Abstract: To suppress fluctuation in the threshold voltage of a transistor, to reduce the number of connections of a display panel and a driver IC, to achieve reduction in power consumption of a display device, and to achieve increase in size and high definition of the display device. A gate electrode of a transistor which easily deteriorates is connected to a wiring to which a high potential is supplied through a first switching transistor and a wiring to which a low potential is supplied through a second switching transistor; a clock signal is input to a gate electrode of the first switching transistor; and an inverted clock signal is input to a gate electrode of the second switching transistor. Thus, the high potential and the low potential are alternately applied to the gate electrode of the transistor which easily deteriorates.

  • Patent number: 8686928
Abstract: A self light emitting device having a function of correcting drops in brightness in self light emitting elements in a pixel portion, and capable of displaying a uniform image without brightness irregularities, is provided. A specific test pattern is displayed when an electric power source is connected, brightnesses are detected by photoelectric conversion elements arranged in each pixel, and then stored in a memory circuit. A correction circuit then corrects a first image signal based on portions which are insufficient from standard brightnesses (brightnesses of normal self light emitting elements at the same gray stale, stored in advance), and a second image signal is obtained. Display of an image in a display device is performed in accordance with the second image signal.

  • Patent number: 8624881
Abstract: To display an image on an electronic paper display properly, even when image data is transmitted continuously from a host of the existing LCD display system, for example. A sampling section inputs a single image data by each prescribed period from a plurality of pieces of continuously transmitted image data corresponding to one screen of the electronic paper display. A difference detecting section detects a difference amount showing a difference between previous image data and latter image data of two pieces of consecutive image data inputted by the sampling section, and determines to perform screen update by using the latter image data when the difference value is equal to or larger than a threshold value. A driving section generates a driving signal of the latter image data and outputs the signal to the electronic paper display, when the screen update is determined by the difference detecting section.
