Abstract: A system and method for detecting existence of a failed or broken shear bolt supporting all or a portion of a concave of a threshing system of an agricultural combine and utilizing information relating to rates of movement and absence of movement of a concave to determining the existence and non-existence of a failed or broken shear bolt supporting the concave. More particularly, the present system and method is operable to diagnose existence of a broken shear bolt from a rapid downward movement of the concave and non-movement of the concave during operation of a driver for repositioning the concave. Also, existence of a false broken concave condition can be diagnosed by movements of the concave responsive to operation of the driver.

Abstract: A dual-port broadband light source is disclosed. In the dual-port broadband light source, a first beam splitter splits a first ASE at a first ratio into the second and third light paths and outputs the first ASE received from the second light path to the first light path. A second beam splitter splits a second ASE at a second ratio into the second and fourth light sources and outputs the second ASE received from the second light path to the first light path. A first reflector reflects input first and second ASEs in the first light path, and a second reflector reflects input first and second ASEs in the second light path. A first gain medium generates the first ASE between the first reflector and the first beam splitter, and a second gain medium generates the second ASE between the first reflector and the second beam splitter.

Abstract: Disclosed are optical signal transmission apparatus including a reflective gain-clamped semiconductor optical amplifier and optical communication system using the optical signal transmission apparatus, which can improve modulation speed and optical power by effectively suppressing intensity noise of an incoherent light source.

Abstract: The invention is related to a parametric amplifier connected to a pump laser with a control device for adapt the pump laser. This amplifier is used in a transmission system. In addition the invention comprises a method for controlling the pump laser source in an iterative process to optimize the gain of the amplifier.
