Abstract: The present invention discloses a multi-priority media access control method for a multi-channel slotted ring network. In the slotted ring networks, each node has one tunable transmitter and one fixed receiver for data channels, and is able to inspect slot status on all channels. The header slot format defines the slot priorities on ring networks and limits which packets can be transmitted through the slots. By assigning slot priority based on two thresholds to raise and lower slot priority, multiple priority packets can be transmitted.

Abstract: Two data communication platforms are operating as a combination. In one embodiment, a data signal formatted according to a data communication protocol is received at a first data communication platform. The first data communication platform operates to determine if the data communication protocol is supported by the first data communication platform. If it is determined that the data communication protocol is supported by the first data communication platform, the first data communication platform indicates to a second data communication platform to receive the data signal at a by-pass path of a filter engine. As a result, fast data signal communication capabilities of protocols developed and implemented as ASICs are combined with the flexibility in developing and adding new protocols implemented as software needed by more complex networked computer devices. In one embodiment, a second data signal formatted according to a second data communication protocol is received at the first data communication platform.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for reminding a user to include an e-mail attachment file with an e-mail communication. The e-mail application is configured to provide a menu of different types of e-mail for the user to select, and to provide templates that require the user to attach an attachment file when that option is selected.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method in which management behavior within a network management system is represented as objects to allow for such management behavior to be dynamically defined. Management behavior may be dynamically created and/or modified by a user in various embodiments. Objects are used to represent management behavior, such as behavior associated with trap management and/or polling management. Such objects may be dynamically defined by a user and activated with the management system during system run-time, without requiring that the system be shut down to implement behavioral changes. The management system may be implemented with gateways distributed from a central management processor. Upon behavior objects being defined by a user, the system may determine appropriate gateways to receive the objects and autonomously communicate the objects thereto.
Abstract: A secure cargo transportation system includes a movable container including an enclosure having an opening; a door movable relative to the opening between a closed position, wherein the door restricts access to the enclosure, and an open position; a memory supported by the movable container and configured to store a location coordinate; and an electronic position determining system supported by the movable container and coupled to the memory, and configured to electronically unlock the door in response to determining that the movable container is within a predetermined distance of the location coordinate.
