Abstract: A torsion bar apparatus for a self-closing door. The longitudinal dimension of the apparatus is reduced while the initial torque when the door is closed is maintained and the weight applied to the user during the door opening operation is reduced. One vertical side of a door is rotatably supported by a frame by means of hinges. One end of a first torsion bar is fixed to a frame, and a connecting member is fixed to the other end of the first torsion bar so as to be unable to rotate. In this state the first torsion bar is rotatably and vertically movably inserted into the door. One end of a second torsion bar is engaged with the connecting member so as to be unable to rotate and movable in the longitudinal direction and the second torsion bar is extended toward the one end of the first torsion bar and the other end of the second torsion bar is fixed to the door.
