  • Patent number: 6629406
Abstract: A pruning apparatus, particularly for pruning low bushes on the ground, such as blueberry bushes, includes a wheeled main frame to be towed behind a tractor, and a plurality of ground work units pivotally connected to the main frame. The units are positioned in front and rear rows and each is selectively positioned in a transverse position. Thus a pruning area effected by one of the unit overlaps an adjacent pruning area of another unit. The connection between each unit and the main frame permits the unit not only to pivot about a vertical axis, but also to pivot slightly about a horizontal axis in a forward direction so that the apparatus is adapted to conform to a contour of uneven portions of a ground surface. Each ground work unit has a drive shaft attached with a plurality of tool member assemblies. The tool member assemblies are so designed as to effect a cutting and flailing action on the blueberry bushes, thereby cutting and slashing the blueberry bushes.

  • Patent number: 6625968
Abstract: An actuating cylinder assembly includes a cylinder adapted to contain a fluid, such as hydraulic fluid or air, a piston shaft movable with respect to the cylinder in response to the removal of fluid from the cylinder and the injection of fluid into the cylinder, and a cylinder stop including a handle portion and a clamping portion releasably engaging the piston shaft, the clamping portion resisting movement of the piston shaft with respect to the cylinder past a selected point. The actuating cylinder assembly used, for example, on a riding lawnmower to set a selected minimum cutting height. Once the cylinder stop is set on the piston shaft, the cutting deck may be raised to avoid obstacles and then quickly lowered to the selected cutting height.

  • Patent number: 6550230
Abstract: A tandem spindle drum row unit arrangement includes a rotary knife offset ahead of the forward drum to sever plants. A feeder rotor with fingers projecting through grid bar structure gently directs plants laterally into a standing row prior to substantial engagement by the spindles on the forward drum. Feeder column rotational speed is synchronized with ground speed. The knife, having a common axis with the rotor, operates at a higher speed for an efficient cut. The feeder column includes curved fingers which project through vertically spaced bars on a guard assembly to positively separate the plant from the fingers. The feeder column and rotary knife are driven through separate slip clutches. A kicker wheel between the drums moves plant material rearwardly.

  • Patent number: 6530203
Abstract: A sprouting beans refining apparatus wherein refuse matters of hulls, trash, small roots, etc. are removed from sprouting beans efficiently. Sprouting beans raked up by a raking-up conveyor are caused to fall down on an endless flat belt which is supported by a vibration frame inclined upwardly toward a moving direction. Sprouting beans on the endless flat belt are sent downwardly by vibration of the vibration frame to fall down onto a lower endless flat belt. Refuse matters of roots, trash, etc. contained in the sprouting beans attach to the surface of the endless flat belt and are transferred together with the endless flat belt to be removed by a scraper. Refined sprouting beans are discharged from a lower end of the endless flat belt of a lowermost stage.

  • Patent number: 6530202
Abstract: A drive system for the bat assembly of a combine by which the reel fingers of the bat are rotated from their generally vertical position into a collapsed position and then back into their generally vertical position as the bat fingers traverse from just prior to the header to just prior to the feed auger whereby the reel fingers of the bat can be adjusted to be spaced from the header in all of its positions to accomplish continuous and even feed of cut crop into the auger and yet avoid breakage of reel fingers by the floating header impinging upon the reel fingers during use.

  • Patent number: 6530198
Abstract: A mower, such as a riding mower, has two side cutting units and a front cutting unit operatively connected to a traction frame. Each side cutting unit can pivot about a substantially vertical axis relative to the traction frame when impact shocks occur on the outer sides of the cutting units. A shock absorber cushions and absorbs such impact shocks, and resists the pivoting motion of the side cutting units, in a bi-directional fashion to be effective during forward or reverse motion of the traction frame.

  • Patent number: 6517431
Abstract: A self-propelled combine harvester includes a transfer zone with side panels and a meshing and feed drum which functions on the tangential flow principle. The feed drum feeds the harvested crop to the separating rotors, which function on the axial flow principle and are rotatably mounted in rotor housings. Side panels are operatively mounted on the rotor housing in the frontal pickup region thereof Guide rails are directed upwardly at an acute angle and become increasingly elevated in the direction of conveyance, for imparting an upward, axially directed pulse to the harvested crop whereby the increasing elevation amplifies this pulse without thereby blocking the pickup zone in a frontal region. Dividing wedge for dividing the harvested crop into two paths, wherein the harvested crop glides over the dividing wedge towards the rotor housings and the long stemmed materials, such as stalks, are caught by the separating rotors and drawn into the corresponding rotor housing via the dividing wedge.

  • Patent number: 6499282
Abstract: A self-propelled power lawn wherein an operator can operate the mower while standing on a foot platform, or alternatively when sitting down on a selectively deployable seat. The operator may operate the mower from a standing position regardless of whether the seat is deployed or not. A shorter control arms extending between a tractor frame structure and a cutter deck assembly having a mower deck lift system raising and lowering the cutter deck assembly together with the engine deck assembly. A portion at the rear of the cutter deck assembly cut out and covered with a plate in order to form a depression over a rear edge of the cutter deck. This depression enables the clutch located over top of the depression (and thus the engine) to be located at a lower elevation so as to lower the overall center of gravity of the mower.

  • Patent number: 6494026
Abstract: A belt drive arrangement for a cutting implement having multiple pivotally connected decks. The arrangement consists of pulley carrying arms, whereby each of the arms carries a plurality of drive and driven pulleys having respective belts thereon for the transfer of power to the blades carried within each of the decks. Each arm has an end mounted with the deck whereby the arrangement is pivotal to permit the axes about which each of the pulleys rotate to remain substantially parallel to each other as a particular deck flexes relative to an adjacent deck. The belts then generally maintain alignment with the grooves of the pulleys. Consequently, the belts are less stressed as they rotate since they do not have to twist and/or bend when entering or exiting the pulleys.
