Abstract: Fabrics that have unique mechanical properties are comprised of fibers that have been reacted to provide carbon nanostructures covalently grafted to these fibers so that the entanglement and/or the reactive bonding between adjacent fibers creates a hierarchal structure reinforcement of the fabric. This entanglement and/or reactivity is also effective for developing reinforcement between plies of structural fabric composites in order to enhance inter-laminar shear strength and mechanical properties.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an airbag base fabric including a woven fabric made from a yarn containing polyethylene terephthalate as the main raw material, the yarn having a single fiber fineness of 1.0 to 3.9 dtex and a total fineness of 280 to 470 dtex, and, in a Raman spectrum obtained by irradiating the yarn with a He—Ne laser with a wavelength of 630 nm, Ix/I0 being 1.20 or more, where Ix is the spectral intensity at 3083 cm?1, and I0=277.4.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a one-piece woven (OPW) air bag includes providing yarns having a spin finish and warping the yarns on at least one beam of a loom. The yarns are simultaneously woven into a fabric air bag structure having two layer portions defining an inflatable volume and single layer portions forming seams delimiting the inflatable volume. The air bag structure is coated to cover the spin finish. The coated air bag structure is cut to define the one-piece woven air bag.
Abstract: A stitch-bonded tape or other directionally stabilized product wherein stitch-bonding is carried out by overstitching yarns stitched through a sheeting or other surface substrate in conjunction with the introduction of high tenacity lay-in yarn elements disposed longitudinally in the machine direction of formation to provide strength in the length direction. The overstitching yarns secure the lay-in yarns in place relative to the surface substrate. An adhesive or other coating is disposed in covering relation to the lay-in yarn elements.
Abstract: A shielding device for shielding against weather influences that includes a textile sheet material which is stretched two-dimensionally or can be rolled out and which forms a shield against weather influences, in particular, against solar radiation and/or rain. The textile material has warp threads and weft threads connected together in a lattice-like manner so as to form a fabric. A foam layer which has foam pores that are separated from one another by solid foam walls is applied onto the textile sheet material on at least one side of the textile sheet material.
Abstract: An elastic multiple component fiber comprising a cross-section, wherein at least a first region of said cross-section comprises a polyurethaneurea composition; and comprising a second region.
