  • Patent number: 9867104
Abstract: Techniques and apparatus disclosed herein include methods for allocating data sessions among two radio access networks (RANs), as might be carried out in a network management node operatively connected to one or more network nodes in each of a first RAN and a second RAN, where the first and second RANs have overlapping coverage areas. An example method includes receiving (401) current data session information and network performance information for each of the first and second RANs, from the one or more network nodes, and computing (402) a reallocation of data sessions among the first and second RANs, based on the performance information and configuration data for the first and second RANs, using a metaheuristic algorithm. The method further includes triggering (403, 404) a transfer of one or more current data sessions between the first and second RANs, based on the computed reallocation.

  • Patent number: 9860137
Abstract: A method and corresponding system to help facilitate the application of service policy rules for client devices while reducing the amount of signaling between network entities is disclosed. In accordance with one example, the wireless network may evaluate the extent to which the service policy rules defined by the UE's service profile have been applied by the wireless network. Based on this evaluating, the network may identify a subset of service policy rules that have been applied to greater than a threshold extent by the network for the given UE. And in response to this identifying, the network may cause the PDP to provision the PEP, with the subset of service policy rules, rather than provision the PEP with every possible service policy rule. As a result, the PDP and PEP may refrain from engaging in excess signaling, and the wireless network, in turn, may enjoy reduced congestion.

  • Patent number: 9860697
Abstract: A mobile device with a display and location services may store information pertaining to a geofence. With the aid of the location services of the mobile device, a geofence crossing may be detected when the mobile device crosses the stored geofence and, if a geofence crossing is detected, the mobile device may transmit a corresponding geofence crossing event to a remote location via a transmitter of the mobile device. The size of the geofence may be automatically adjusted when a predetermined abnormality is suspected in the detected geofence crossing events. In some cases, a query is provided to the user to verify the presence of the predetermined abnormality before the size of the geofence is automatically adjusted, or a user-initiated menu may be employed to verify the presence of the predetermined abnormality and/or to adjust the size of the geofence.

  • Patent number: 9838269
Abstract: Disclosed are systems, computer-readable mediums, and methods for determining client metrics of a volume in a storage system for a first client of a plurality of clients. The storage system stores data from the plurality of clients. System metrics of a cluster in the storage system are determined based upon use of the storage system by the plurality of clients. A load value of the storage system is determined based upon the system metrics and the client metrics. The load value is determined to be above a predefined threshold. A target performance value is calculated based upon the load value, a minimum quality of service value, and a maximum quality of service value. Performance of the storage system is adjusted for the client based upon the target performance value and the determining the load value is above the predefined threshold.

  • Patent number: 9813855
Abstract: An application server may receive, from an administrative console, a message and a targeting specification. The targeting specification identifies at least one trait (e.g., ticket type, age, gender) shared by a group of targeted venue guests. The group of targeted venue guests is a subset of the plurality of venue guests of a venue. The application server then uses information obtained from venue guest devices corresponding to venue guests to identify who belongs to the group targeted venue guests as well as their corresponding targeted venue guest devices. The application server then transmits a message to the targeted venue guest devices. The message may further be transmitted according to a schedule set or triggers by the administrator console. The schedule may identify dates and times within which messages should be sent, while the triggers may identify locations that may trigger messages.
