Abstract: Provided are nucleic acid constructs which comprise a polynucleotide encoding adenosine phosphate-isopentenyltransferase (IPT) operably linked to a stress-related promoter. Also provided are host cells transformed with the nucleic acid constructs, transgenic plants expressing the IPT coding sequence under the transcriptional regulation of a stress-related promoter and methods of using same for increasing abiotic stress tolerance of a plant, and biomass of plants under stress or normal conditions.

Abstract: A novel maize variety designated PH2SJ4 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are provided. Methods for producing a maize plant comprise crossing maize variety PH2SJ4 with another maize plant are provided. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PH2SJ4 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are provided. Hybrid maize seed, plants or plant parts are produced by crossing the variety PH2SJ4 or a locus conversion of PH2SJ4 with another maize variety.
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for the design and production of synthetic promoters with a defined specificity and promoters produced with these methods.
